Players, coaches and referees of any nationality were eligible to be nominated for the awards, as long as they meet at least one of the following criteria: Have played/coached/refereed in an official CONCACAF tournament at club or national team level OR Have played/coached/refereed for a CONCACAF member national team in a FIFA-sanctioned international competition OR Have played/coached/refereed in a domestic league within CONCACAF’s territory: A player/coach/referee from the CONCACAF region, who does not meet the above criteria (i.e. a player whose only performances in the past year came in a European or Asian league etc.), would not be eligible; Goal of the Year applies only to goals scored during CONCACAF or FIFA official competitions or a league game disputed within the CONCACAF region; Voters should base their judgments solely on performances in the above categorized competitions from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2015.
lol how much some of you hate Yedlin. Probably because he's American born. You won't criticize the German born player, but will to the American born one.
Its the hype, not something he's earned. He doesn't even yet score or assist at an every other game rate for Pachuca. Thats terrible for a "good" attacking midfielder. Eventually, being young can't be an excuse anymore.
disagree, the only reason he has not that many assist is because owr forwards cant seem to score , he also got best player of the u20 concacaf championship and pre olympic. he is not a finish product and still makes dumb mistakes but time will make him better. he is just 20 with 69 appearances (58 as a starter).
I didn't say that he doesn't have potential, but to include him in the best players in the confederation discussion is because he's the most hyped young player of the best team of 2015 in CONCACAF. There are plenty of LigaMX players and plenty of MLS players who were way better than him in 2015.
During the 2007 Copa America, the US nearly pulled off the most impressive of bunkers in a group stage game vs Argentina. In that game, Jonathan Bornstein's sole task was to chase Messi around the field. For years to come, the spazzos talked about how Bornstein "owned" Messi. Messi went on to win 5 Ballon d'or trophies while Bornstein ended up in Queretaro. In contrast, Severo Meza had an outstanding performance vs Neymar during a friendly in 2012. A year later, he wasn't even part of the Mexican NT.
