Is Lozano going to be back for Pachuca's 2nd CCL leg against Dallas? I'm fairly confident the two best young players in CONCACAF are Lozano and Pulisic. Kellyn Acosta, who's the same age as Lozano, is a really nice young player to keep an eye on. Helluva free kick against Pachuca, and dominated the series against Arabe Unido. Agree. I'd like to see both Acosta and Lozano get transfers this summer. Both are primed for the next level/challenge. Something which seems to bother me more than many US fans is players stalling/waiting too long to take the next step and climb the pyramid. IMO, as soon as you clearly adapt to a level and rise to one of the best at your level/league, you must move on to the next level. And frankly, I'd like to see both Liga MX and MLS be more willing sellers of young talent begging for the next step. At 20/21, you're primed to take a moderate step, stay there for a couple years, then take another. Wait until 23/24 and you cut out an entire step.
They should have just had him join the club after the season. He has barely played since joining the club. If he finished the season with Genk he would at least be playing in the Europa League. #FreeLeonBailey.
is it just cause he's not up to the level or is he injured? just pretty wild that he got a 20 million euro move
This is what the best young player in CONCACAF looks like. Spoiler (Move your mouse to the spoiler area to reveal the content) Show Spoiler Hide Spoiler
lol this Acosta hype is ridiculous. Gil 2.0. Hyndman plays in a pub league, worse than mls. Pineda performs in a better league and will soon consolidate himself as a starter in the best national team in Concacaf.
I've seen Pineda play a couple of times. He is not better than either of those two. Acosta has shown to be good in all facets of the game and Hyndman is better than Pineda at his style.
Sorry Shawn but your talent evaluation is pretty bad. You said Gil was going to rip ligamx when he couldn't even make the bench for a lower midtable team. He's now back at mls and a starter for RSL. Time will eventually prove I'm right
Whoops thought he went back in mls for some reason. Hard to keep up when there's no news on him. Point still stands though
You can think Acosta hype is ridiculous, but he's not Gil 2.0. Luis Gil never performed at even an MLS level. Acosta is performing at an MLS "Best XI" level, and has performed well against Pachuca, etc. Is he better or worse than Mexican central midfielders of the same age like Pineda? I have no idea. All I know is that he's pretty damn good. Let's see how he does in this 2nd leg at Pachuca when the spotlight and pressure is at its highest. That'll tell us a lot. I do believe we need to see Acosta compete for a full year at his current level for reality to meet the hype. We Americans love hype regardless of sport And we need to seem him compete at that level in central midfield for the USMNT. We need him desperately, as guys like Jermaine Jones are on their last legs.
He might not be Gil 2.0 but he can be another MLS youngster who fans hype up and fails to deliver. Maybe he'll be great but at this moment he is not better than Pineda who is the best player in Liga Mx's best team right now. And it's not just this season, but ever since he debuted with Queretaro he's been performing really well every season.
I've never seen a better 18 year old player in CONCACAF than Pulisic. He ripped apart Honduras. Just unreal.
Give it a year or two. He's, what, two years younger than Pulisic? Lots of good young players all over CONCACAF right now. Anyway, as far as I'm concerned Pulisic should be in the "best player in CONCACAF" thread instead of the "best YOUNG player in CONCACAF thread." It'll be really interesting to see how Pulisic copes at the Azteca against Mexico in June. That's a completely different level than playing against Honduras at home.
if Villafana can start for Your NT who is a U20 and bench player for Santos and Lainez is getting a starting role for America then I can definitely believe that Lainez > Pulisic Its simple math really lol
