many great free kick specialists: Zico, Rivaldo, Roberto Carlos, Rivelino, Zidane, Ronaldinho, C.Ronaldo, Juninho Pernabucano, Pele, Garrincha, Maradona, Marcelinho, Beckham
I voted for Juninho. He was great in Lyon and every free kick was potential goal. Can you guess where he plays at the moment?
To me, without any shadow of doubt, Zico. Others close to him, near the top, could be Maradona, Platini, Juninho and Mihajlović.
Some great set piece players but IMO no one holds a candle to Roberto Carlos in this category. Truely the greatest of all time when it comes to free kicks.
um... yeah, I can guess... [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nrz3r1Sz7SY"]YouTube- Al Gharafa vs. Al Sadd 4-1[/ame]
Beckham?!? [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adYgHunQEl0&feature=fvst"]YouTube- All the FreeKicks from David Beckham[/ame]
I would say : 1- Zico 2- Platini 3-7 (in no particular order) : Rivelino, Maradona, Juninho, Beckham, Mihajlovic I picked Platini ahead of Rivelino, Maradona, Juninho, Beckham and Mihajlovic because of his superior efficiency at the international level. He scored 12 free-kicks with France, some of them being extremely decisive (vs Netherlands in 1981 to qualify France for WC82, vs Spain in EC84 final, vs Yugoslavia in 1985 to qualify France for WC86 etc).
