You got MJ, Scottie and Phil in 1.

Jeter, Torre and the Hammer of God in another.

    Shaq. Kobe, Phil.

    Suazo, Aldo and Vucetich.

We can't forget John Paxson clinching the Bulls' 1st 3peat. Or MJ pushing off Bryon Russell for the 2nd.

Or Sojo's big RBIs to clinch for NY. Or the Diesel and Kobe 3peating even tho they hated each other. And now Aldo's header that literally made the Tec move as if there was an earthquake.

The Bulls failed to 4peat both times because MJ retired each time. The Yanks failed because of Luis Gonzalez. And the Lakers ran into the Spurs who literally made them cry.

We'll see who stops the current 3-time CCL champs from 4peating.

Welp, there will be no CCL 4peat next year. The current champs have been eliminated today, and will be lame duck champions for 11 months.

Let's now look at all the failed 4peats of the dynasties mentioned in this thread:

    • In 1994, the Bulls' 4peat quest was squashed by the NY Knicks in the Eastern Conference Semifinals, in 7 games. That series will always be remembered for a controversial call by Hue Hollins in the closing seconds of game 5. It gave the Knicks free throws, which won them the game, averting a 3-2 deficit on the road. Instead, the Bulls bounced back to force game 7, but Ewing & Co. were too much for the Bare Jordans to overcome.
    • In 1999, the Bulls were eliminated from making the playoffs earlier than they ever had been in a generation. Jordan, Pippen, Rodman and Jackson were gone, and only a couple of 3peaters remained to see the 4peat hopes go up in flames with time to spare in the regular season.
    • In 2001, the NY Yankees were 2 outs away from a 4peat, but then Marian Rivera imploded, allowing the Arizona Diamondbacks to put on a historic comeback in the bottom of the 9th, capped by Luis Gonzalez' "floater" to give AZ their first WS title in their history.
    • In 2003, the Lakers' 4peat hopes ran into Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginnobli, who thumped them in 6 games in the Western Conference Semifinals. As the champs were getting blown out at home in game 6, Shaq and Kobe were both visibly crying like spoiled little boys. Kobe gave an emotional, teary interview immediately afterward, saying they'll play "til exhaustion" next season to reclaim their crown. They didn't.
    • And now tonight, 5/18/13, CFM is eliminated from a CCL title for the first time since way back in 2009. Their 4peat hopes are done, vanquished by America, who just defeated them 4-3 on aggregrate in the Spring 2013 MX League Semifinals.
