Melbourne, Australia. I'm going to try to remember to do some photos on this trip. I'm the worst at that.
I know I'm terrible about photos, but here's one of me with a baby Joey at a Kangaroo rescue in Coober Pedy, South Australia where a lot of Opals are mined. Got to Uluru today. Yes, I'm the old guy (although I used to have hair like that. . . alas).
Planning a 2 week trip of the west in August starting the 1st seeing Weird Al in Denver. Then flying to Wyoming to see Yellowstone. Need to fly somewhere out of jackson hole before flying back to chicago. Salt Lake? Thinking of visiting family in Seattle
Try Bozeman, MT. Its just north of Yellowstone and may be a little cheaper than flying in and out of Jackson Hole.
To get home from Uluru I've flown over 11,000 miles in the last 3 days. It's exhausting. Tomorrow, I go to Denver to my sister's place as she and her family have been taking care of my dog while I was gone.
I think I might open a pot shop only half kidding. Also something smells great nearby. Maybe it's the Forrest before the rain
Not exactly travel, but SoccerHouse was included on a historic homes tour in the South Loop yesterday. Since it was an office building and not actually restored to a home like everything else, it was probably the least interesting building on the tour. Only got to see the first floor (I think the trophy room is upstairs, unfortunately it was what I really wanted to see). Still some interesting memorabilia on display in the conference rooms.
"Trophy Room" for the US Soccer? Trophy Room for the USWNT, with a Trophy cubby-hole for the USMNT. Decent article today in Politico on the subject. https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2019/06/09/soccer-women-world-cup-227099
Judging by the way the USMNT has played lately, you could probably just be a "walk-on" to the Gold Cup team and you could see this year's edition up close and personal.
That implies that we get close enough to the final to actually see the trophy. I have finals tickets. They actually aren't too bad in price considering they'll be expensive in hell if Mexico makes it. Going to laugh my ass off when the final is Costa Rica vs Jamaica though.
I thought about buying tickets to the final, just so I could sell them if Mexico was in the final. I did not because 1) I did not want to the risk and 2) I am personally opposed to "scalping" tickets.
Boulder Colorado. But home in time for today’s festivities. 10am Women’s World Cup Final. 3pm Copa America Final. 8pm Gold Cup Final.
In my backyard burning wood scraps from the new deck and drinking a Right Bee Cider from the greatest city on Earth.
I bet you are having a great time. Well if you're in Indy and you haven't been hit up Broad Ripple Brewpub. OMG craft ESB and porters and fried egg sandwiches? I think I would take another trip down there tomorrow if i didn't have to drive through the rest of the state
can't believe I missed a Yellowstone reference by this many days. instead of a plane ticket out of Jackson, just spend all 2 weeks in Yellowstone. I lived there for 2 summers and still go back for 2 weeks every 2-3 years. I could spend two weeks just at Old Faithful if my wife wasn't such a fanatic for the wildlife and scenery in the other 99% of the park. Or you could go to California - Yosemite/Sequoia/Kings Canyon is awesome. So is Rainier/Olympic in WA.
I’ve been going there for 20+ years. It’s right around the corner from The Vogue Theater, a great place to see a show.
