William it does'nt have to be an English team.

If your looking for a club with passion, pride, tradition and the best fans in the world then Shamrock Rovers F.C is your team. Were Irelands most famous team but recently got relegated (but by the looks of things your not a glory hunter and for that I respect you) but are on the way up.

The fans have taken control of the club after fat cats had dragged our name through the mud.

We recently had an American goalkeeper (Russell Payne) who recently retired.

Bristol City- because our new kit kicks ass, we have a player in the world cup and we are fully equipped to get out of this poxy division once and for all!

I go with Oxford United because when my ancestors were still in England, that's where they were. Oxfordshire mainly.
Better than a map and a dart I guess.
Hopefully they'll be back in the Colaship next year. :p

That's kind of unlikely, seeing as they're three leagues BELOW the Colaship now. Even if they get promoted every year from now on, they won't back there until 2009-10 at the earliest.

Yeah, I kind of did a bad job there of lumping the Football League all together there since they're all sponsored by Coca-Cola. The Nationwide is the first league outside of the Football League, isn't it?

Do you know how they all stack up promotion-wise?

    Premiership
    Championship
    League 1
    League 2
    Nationwide Conference
    ????????
    I know there's...
    The Unibond League
    The Ryman League
    The Southern Football League
    The Arngrove Northern Football League
...but I'm not sure what each one's status is.

To be honest, the structure of the leagues and potential for promotion simply fascinates me. In theory, a team could start off playing in a recreational league and ascend all the way to the Premiership. In theory, of course. ;)

I think that some of the leagues aren't going to be too sure of their status at the moment, given the reorganisation over the past few years.

Current state of affairs (down to the 21st level in places):

Conference starts this weekend, off up to Oxford for the game (and hopefully and away win).

That's a fascinating site. It's so cool to see how many teams there are in England.

Judging from his profile, an obvious and disappointing choice.

My profile says nothing about a Nationwide/Coca Cola club that I have chosen to follow. It only mentions the nation I am a citizen of and the club I started to follow about 15 years ago after seeing a highlight clip of one of their players.
