I got the entire series on DVD at Half price books on a lark (I'm usually there to look for comics, or Forgotten Realms "novels" because, well, they're fun, but not full-price fun . Gotta remember to binge it now.
Finished Series 9 of Dr. Who last night on Amazon Prime. Disappointed that Arya Stark won't be killed off so she can be on the spin-off with Clara. Also, I watched the the two RiffTrax takes of the two Daleks movies from the Sixties. Not canon, but with RiffTrax added, watchable. Starting 'Peep Show' today. Anyone else been watching 'The Deuce?' I liked it.
Well, that might have been difficult considering Clara's fate. As much as I like Peter Capaldi as an actor and as good as he should have been in the role, his time as the Doctor was a major disappointment, I think. Bring on Jody Whitaker.
She ran off in a stolen TARDIS with Me, delaying her return to Gallifrey and eventual death, perfect starting point for a possible spin-off. Confession: I never got into the old Doctor Whos, and I think that I watched two whole episodes of the Tom Baker episodes. He was the one with the scarf, right? I 've also never read any of the following, and have no desire to: The Hobbit LOTR (although I did love the animated versions of both) Hitchhiker's Guide to he Galaxy. I had to force myself to its finish. Harry Potter I'm a horrible geek/nerd/whatever.
lol I liked Covenant. I had to read the Wikipedia entry on Prometheus to make sense of it. But I cheated, and read the entry for Covenant before seeing it, so there's that.
I enjoyed them both, but I have to concede that they're both horribly written, and most importantly fail to make any coherent connection to the original film.
The original Doctor Who series is far better than the reboot. Completely agree about the tripe that is Lord of the Rings The Hobbit and, probably, Harry Potter I enjoyed much of The Hitchhiker's Guide, but it became a bit repetitive as the books went on and on.
I’ll just add to what’s already been said by saying any movie that requires the early 80’s horror movie plot convention of people wandering off on their own and dying one at a time to move the story forward better be an early 80’s horror movie. That and the surprise ending was so predictable it was as annoying as watching people wander off alone to get picked off one at a time.
I love the original too. I suggest you play Alien: Isolation some time on your PS4, it's a wonderful survival horror game that plays like the original Alien movie. BTW play it with headphones on in the dark...
Hmmm Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams series goes live January 12th on Amazon Prime Video. Maybe it'll be good? I need something besides The Grand Tour and Man In The High Castle on the service which is severely lacking in good original content.
Yoko Kanno is an incredible composer, everything soundtrack she does is gold. Her work on Ghost In The Shell is top notch too. The Cowboy Bebop Movie music might even be better than the series.
