There are enough sources talking about this to post it : According to multiple sources, The Canadian Premier League is looking at changing it's roster rule in regards to signing Internationals. 7 Internationals allowed No more than 2 aged 28 years old or older out of 7 Up to 7 Internationals younger than 27 years old I've also confirmed that the rumoured #CanPL change to the international spots is true. There is a proposal being discussed that would limit teams to signing no more than two international players who are older than 27. No decision yet though. Discussions taking place now.— Duane Rollins (@24thminute) October 23, 2019 To be clear there would still be 7 international spots. The restriction would be that 5 of the internationals would need to be younger than 28. https://t.co/UATaAPsrOL— Duane Rollins (@24thminute) October 23, 2019
After posting this I’ve been contacted by a couple people close to the situation who say that the age being discussed is now even younger than <27. Perhaps Olympic eligible players will be the cut off. Still a 5+2 breakdown https://t.co/TGUxM5O93H— Duane Rollins (@24thminute) October 23, 2019

Not sure if anyone here pays any attention to youth NT football (I don’t really either), but Canada is playing Brazil in the U17 WC opener right now. 2-0 at the break. Any promising youngsters for Canada? @Robert Borden
Hard to answer this one. They lost 4-1 to Brazil but played well near the end of the game. It's a hard question to answer because no doubt they are promising talents for the 3 MLS teams in Canada but too soon to say for the national team. Soccer Canada has selected MLS academy players without evaluating talents outside those systems and that's becoming a problem that's catching more mainstream attention. It's a hard question to answer when so many other streams of talents are being ignored.
I have lived in California, several east coast urban areas of USA, and Toronto. The soccer culture of acceptance of multi-cultural involvement in Canada is a big edge on the USA for grass roots development of players. Future is bright with JH in charge.
How’s this work? Does the age only matter when they sign the initial contract? If you sign them and while under contract they go over the age will you not be able to resign them once their contract is up if you have two other players over the age under contract. I’m not specifically asking you just kinda wondering out-loud.
From my understanding the age restriction is a hard limit if they copy the Algerian top league who has the same restriction. Anelka wasnt able to sign in Algeria because he was over 27: https://www.sudouest.fr/2015/01/12/...e-pourra-pas-jouer-en-algerie-1794481-766.php This is still a rumor but from what came out is that 2 Internationals wouldn't have any limits but the other 5 internationals must be younger. Rumors has it that the league was not happy with how Valour built their squad, to some extend Halifax and Edmonton as well. These 3 clubs finished bottom 3 with the oldest international signings. Another reason is economics. Older players with good resumes inflates the salaries while not necessarily performing to salaries expectations. To be honest, Canadians have been better on average than internationals that most likely earned more money on average. Best goal scorer Also, the league has proved very capable at developing young talents. It makes sense for the league to prefer signing younger internationals Lots of younger talent are being given up upon too fast and breaks through later. CPL can get them cheaper, nurture their talent, have their own stars and sell them high. Lots of MLS academies former players eliminated the Vancouver Whitecaps & defeated CONCACAF established teams. I'm warming up to the logic behind it.
Davies gets his second Bayern start in a row, again at LB. The opportunities are coming with his current form. 🇨🇦 https://t.co/6Ru8j9uRf3— Joshua Kloke (@joshuakloke) October 29, 2019
Looks like Atiba Hutchinson is back in form. 1189472849196716034 is not a valid tweet id The USMNT will most likely face him in November due to Mark-Anthony Kaye injury. He's a genius at midfield and perfect for Herdman's system --------------------Davies--------David --------Arfield------------------------------Osorio -----------------Piette---Hutchinson Miller----Cornelius----Vitoria----Laryea --------------------------Borjan Bench: Lucas Cavallini Cyle Larin Liam Millar Sam Adekudbe Juan Cordova Liam Fraser Doneil Henry Maxime Crepeau Marco Carducci Stephen Eustaquio David Wotherspoon Dominic Zator
Canada is eliminated from the U17 World Cup. More mainstream sports journalists are highlighting a problem within soccer Canada that needs to be rectified. The hope is that CPL will change the system. 1190465899213533184 is not a valid tweet id 1190467807793885185 is not a valid tweet id 1190469354447671296 is not a valid tweet id This is what @CanadaSoccerEN wants. Want players to come from MLS Academies. They’ll say those players in better environment, training more serious & competition better. & it is true. But they also demand this so discourages private academies & MLS academies become only way to go https://t.co/NxJyF68J7D— Tony Marinaro (@TonyMarinaro) November 2, 2019 Like he said, it's an exclusive system, not inclusive. Academies outside MLS system are systematically being ignored which makes no sense as they aren't covering all of Canada, therefore we have no guarantee that the best players are being selected. This needs to change. The good news is at the U23 level, it will change as the CanMNT coach John Herdman as appointed his assistant coach Mauro Biello (who will be the U23 head coach) as the dedicated scout for the CPL. Mauro Biello said that the scouting will be worldwide and not limited to just North America or MLS academies.
Alphonso Davies played 90 minutes in a 5-1 loss to Frankfurt. Quick glance at Alphonso Davies. He assisted #Bayern's only goal and has completed 88.9% of his passes. Won six of his 13 ground duels and two of his four dribble attempts. I thought he was one of the few good players in white today. #SGEFCB— Manuel Veth (@ManuelVeth) November 2, 2019
The king of the North has been crowned! Forge FC has won the CPL Championship 2-0 on aggregate. Hamilton will represent Canada at the 2020 CONCACAF League.
Cyle Larin is having his breakthrough in Europe. 6 goals, 6 assists in 15 games- 1,335 minutes The Larin goal is here, and also shows his involvement on the first #CANMNT https://t.co/O7oOxi9SMz— Canucks Abroad (@Canucks_Abroad) November 2, 2019 Steven Vitoria scores for his club in Portugal.
