Amazingly she is someone we should avoid defending advice from, as she has more people rush her box and score than we have this year.

Iwobi isn’t an attacking midfielder. He should be an eight but Emery.

Did you skip over the point I made about Ozil helping Arsenal win two of the three games they have won against teams currently in the top 8.

Relying on Douzi to make the midfield tick, and Iwobi to create and add in 5 defenders and Xhaka and you get the West Ham match.

Yeah, I guess I'm not buyin' it, or I don't think it's very important. Basically he was useless against Watford, he did really well against Leicester and one or two other times. But for the most part, the success of the early part of the season was due to the efficiency of PEA and Lacazette.

Then it looked like we turned a corner in the middle of the Spurs game, where we found our best formation imo. Ie, we play 352, with Holding, Kolasinac, Bellerin and Ramsey (and both PEA and Lacazette on the field at the same time). I thought we were going to push on from there. But then Holding got hurt, Bellerin got hurt, the parts of the squad we have confidence in is thin, players have been overplayed, and since then we've lacked a lot of energy that we had then, and results have suffered.

And during this period, it has to be said that Ozil has been part of the problem instead of part of the solution. Yeah, we know that this contract is an albatross, we know he doesn't really fit Emery's style, we know these injuries may or not be legit. Whatever, at the very least he needs to show up for training and make himself available for selection. Just like Ramsey is doing in a similar circumstance.

Basically, Ozil's shit is pretty weak, the fanboys are all about putting out propaganda instead of Arsenal winning football matches. It's maybe not really his fault that he's so hugely overpaid. I may not really believe all those things but it's close enough to give him the benefit of the doubt.

But not being available for selection, that's where it all falls apart. There's just no excuse for that at all as far as I'm concerned. Right now, Ozil is basically Carl Jenkinson with an umlaut.

True, considering how often her defense gets penetrated.

    Exactly

Ozil actually played very well in those games yet got excluded for 'tactical reasons

The problem for emery is if you drop Ozil but then concede 5 to Liverpool then what is the supposed upside?

Damn straight it is. How would you describe an un-selectable player?

Maybe I should back up a second.

There's a couple of things that we probably agree on, but haven't really been spelled out, at least not here. First, there's no doubt in my mind, that if Ozil were willing, the club would tear up Ozil's contract and let him be a free agent and sign for whoever he wants, or retire.

Second, I'm not some kind of old school, "Back in the day I walked five miles to a one room schoolhouse", blah blah. I'm mostly willing to cut slack to professional athletes to let them take care of their business as they see fit so that on game day, they're prepared as best as they can. But whatever is in that account, Ozil has overdrawn it ages ago.

Given that, if Ozil wants his money, he's got to show up for training and be available for selection. That's like the cold bare minimum of what we should expect him to do. If that's too unpleasant for him (and it might be) I've got fcuk all zero sympathy for him. He can just give the money back.

He didn’t say tactical reasons for whu that I saw. When asked he said that the players that deserved to play, played—essentially.

Liverpool and Fulham was knee injury confirmed by ozil on Twitter so if the club is making the injury up, he is going along with it or vice-versa.

Ozil started Burnley and Brighton just a couple of weeks ago so it’s not like he’s frozen out.

Also Ramsey started at Liverpool, the spurs league cup match, the FA cup match. With Ramsey it could be as much about managing him wrt to injury than tactical.

Aside from 1-2 games, iwobi has been great and arguably our best player this season.

Sure, he can be frustrating even on his best days. Doesn't undermine my point that yesterday he was our most dangerous player as far as creativity. He's being put in a difficult of position of having to be that guy because he's the only player in the squad who can run at defenders with the ball and our manager for whatever reason doesn't deem our most creative passer of the ball selectable.

I'd love it if Iwobi was being brought along more slowly as it would be a good sign regarding the overall strength of the squad. But he's not, which speaks volumes as to said strength right now. But at any rate, he's hardly a passenger.

I honestly never watched him at Sevilla or PSG. That's just what the current Arsenal system looks like, to me.

I was all in for emery but this ozil things and sticking to a 343 is t working

The whole squad is a mess and our ownership stinks

Really shit to go from pure optimism to just pure apathy

I hate the ownership and emery is going down in my estimations. If we don’t spend I do t think we even make uefa cup spaces

Some good comments. A lil too much ozil bashing. The dude has talent and Emery shud have built a relationship w him by now.

Starting two non creative midfielders like curly locks n a tree trunk xhaxa was bad. No one to hold ball or pull defenders or create chances for our two talent Ed strikers.

Mustafi is the worst player on the field. His confidence shot. His foul led to the start of the goal.

Emery using player workrate not talent to select midfield. Tired of seeing xhaxa n the kid in midfield.

Seriously, is it that much worse? You guys watched the last few seasons right? Do I need to bump some of those matchday threads just to remind people how shit we could be even with ozil and Rambo and a full strength defense?

Remember how we had a man advantage for 84 minutes against Atlético and got only one goal and gave an away goal? And then only had one shot on target in the return leg in Madrid? With ozil and Ramsey in both.

Remember how we only got 11 away points the whole of last season?

Remember two years ago when we were played off the park at WHL? With ozil and Ramsey?

Yeah, this exactly. More than whatever happens with Ramsey and Ozil in particular, I think we're losing the right frame of reference mentioned above.

There's no doubt for me that the Brighton game was a poor result and a poor performance. West Ham was a poor result and a poor performance. But we can't be too reactionary about two poor performances considering that we have actually have some meaningful accomplishments so far this season. Considering that, imo, the reason for those performances is that we haven't had Holding or Bellerin. Considering especially that we've seen ten years of this kind of performance before and we deluded ourselves into thinking Arsene Knows this or that when in reality he was plainly out to sea.

At the very least, we've got to wait a month or so to see if some January signings or players returning from injury can give us a little spark that we've lacked over the last six weeks or so.

No. Tbh I've got more hope for returnees from injury. But I do hope we see Denis Suarez come in. My sense is that he's basically what Miki is now as his floor, and I'd be playing Miki now if his foot weren't broken.
