Klopp agrees with me! LIVERPOOL boss Jurgen Klopp has revealed he didn’t pay enough money for Alisson following tonight’s win over Napoli. https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/f...-Salah-Napoli-Champions-League-Milik-BT-Sport
Allison has now saved us in 3 of the last 4 games. If we had the goalkeepers from last season, I have no doubt that we would have dropped points against Everton and Burnley and that we would be out of the Champions League. We live in a completely different world because of one player. As record breaking signings it was always going to be hard for Allison and Virgil to live up to their price tags. Except it wasn’t. After just a few games it became completely obvious that both players were absolutely worth it.
The goalie position is so easily dismissed as not that important, but I think that's because the truly great ones are so rare that only fans of the clubs they play for get to see them week in week out. Most fans watch poor/average keepers make the occasional great save. I honestly still can't believe we have arguably the best in the world right now.
We've all seen Manure get the benefit of a world class keeper time and time again. It's nice to see us finally gaining points because of that too.
Last May, Liverpool completed a 7-6 aggregate victory over Roma. They have conceded only six goals after 16 games of the current league season. So at this stage of 2018, Liverpool have scored more goals against their own keeper than 16 Premier League teams combined.
For those saying that great save was straight at him (opposing fans) look at Wolves first goal v Newcastle last weekend - almost identical but keeper is slower off his line and doesn't spread himself. Wolves score.
yep - just bitter opposition fans at their absolute worst. The BT Sport announcers went crazy in real time and then even more so after the 5 different replays.
Ironically my Univision channel was cutting out a fair amount during the second half and I completely missed the save live. Came back in time for the replay with the announcers going nuts (I think!)
I would agree insofar as the league points total goes.... but the CL we would probably have been more gung-ho AND QUALIFIED EARLIER....
Alisson has had a pretty good 2019 The 27-year-old won the Champions League, European Super Cup and FIFA World Club Cup with Liverpool and added the Copa America with Brazil, but his achievements don't end there. Alisson also collected a whole host of personal awards as he won the first Yashine Trophy, the Ballon d'Or for keepers essentially, the FIFA Goalkeeper of the Year, Champions League goalkeeper of the season and Premier League and Copa America Golden Gloves. He also earned the joint most clean sheets in the Champions League and found himself on the FIFA and UEFA Teams of the Season and Copa America Team of the Tournament.
I am -- as in "we won the FIFA CWC". don't see why Alisson shouldn't do the same. serious question though: was he included in the squad for that, and if so .... ??
