Excited to see what he can do! I'm becoming optimistic about this season, if he's the player that everyone says he is.

    Yay!

Three posts in, and no "Santi Caz is coming to town" lines yet?

Their listed heights are 5'9" and 5'7" respectively. That pictures certainly doesn't suggest that.

Some stats for Santi this year:

    • Cazorla started all 38 league games for Málaga last season, no Arsenal outfield player has done this since Winterburn in 96/97.
    • Three players made over 1000 passes in the final third in LigaBBVA 11/12: Messi (1303), Xavi (1101) and Cazorla (1037).
    • 32.5% - Only Messi (47%) and Ronaldo (44%) were involved in a higher % of their team's shots in LigaBBVA last season than Cazorla.
    • 84 - Santi Cazorla created 84 goalscoring chances in La Liga last season, only 3 players created more (Ozil, Messi & Navas)

Apparently Jack, Santi and Arshavin have already hit if off and were seen enjoying some sweets

If RvP stays, we're going to have a potent attack. If we get one more defensive player, we'll be good.

why do i want him to lay in the middle (wilshere role), instead of on the wings (gervinho)??
    what are your thoughts?

Even if RVP leaves I'm super excited about this new season. Quality players coming in and hopefully one more before the season. (doubt it) Welcome Santi!

Definitely through the middle. The most glaring weak point in our attack last season was that advanced Mid role behind RVP....especially when Rosicky was out of the lineup.

How does someone that short not miss a league game all season?

Defenders are not allowed to breathe on you, let alone touch you in Spain.

Good signing though. He should provide a massive boost to the offense.

I wonder if we will play him on the wings or in Rosicky's role.

indeed, football in spain is more or less a non-contact sport.

That bodes well for Santi's first away trips to places like Sunderland, Stoke & West Brom. I don't suppose he had to encounter players like Andy Wilkinson in Spain.

Hey, let's put a positive spin on this -- maybe it's bloodlust that's bringing him to England.

He's played against Pepe a few times, even Stoke can't rival that.
