Now Seattle is more laidback and the Runners got a couple of good opportunities. Let's hope they score a goal. It will soften the pain...
Old Dominion 2, South Carolina 0 -- Final Seattle 3, CSU Bakersfield 0 -- Final Wake Forest 2, Clemson 1 -- Final
Albany (N.Y.) 1, Vermont 0 -- Final UMass Lowell 2, New Hampshire 1 -- Final Virginia 2, Notre Dame 1 -- Final
Well after a terrible start of 2nd half the Runners did resist with some pride, even if Seattle were less pushy, keeping some energy for the next matches. Final 3-0. CSUB will regret its losses against Houston Baptist and Incarnate World and their lame draw against UTRGV that meant they had to face a big seed in the first round. Let's hope the right lessons will be learnt: e.g. having a negative approach to some games means the team looses its ability to develop a positive game, to create opportunities and to score goals. To switch the mind from defensive to offensive is often a difficult process and results take time to come back.
USF now in first place in the WCC by 2 points with a game to play. USF also owns the tie-breaker over 2nd place Portland in the event of a tie.
UNLV 2, Grand Canyon 1 -- Final San Francisco 3, Pacific 0 -- Final Pacific eliminated. San Fran with 15 points to Portland's 13, with 1 game remaining. USF hosts LMU, while Portland is at Saint Mary's.
What a crazy game. All 4 goals in regulation came in an 11-minute span. Xavier went from 2-0 up to 2-2 quickly. Overtime saw Butler's Eric Dick save a Xavier penalty roughly 2 minutes in. Penalties were just as exciting: Xavier accurate, Butler misses 1st over the goal, Butler gets 2nd saved terrifically by Handley. Exciting BIG EAST soccer game.
