I'd really like it if one of these days someone teaches these defenders what tactical fouling is and how not to let playing the offside trap get in the way of the actual job of defending against an offensive player.

Today's assist from Messi for the 3rd goal is the perfect example of what not to do as a defensive unit i.e. simply run alongside him trying to block his shot/pass and then try an offside trap, instead of,
a) grabbing hold of and not letting go of his clothes while he is outside the box or
b) tackling him to the ground as soon as he starts the run or
c) Not stepping back to try and play an offside trap, but rather attempt to block the striker from a clear shot on goal once the pass has been made to him.

Still remember Ramos doing the same thing in the 2-6 Classico in 2009 on Henry's goals, and seeing it again now being done by the Alaves defence doesn't make it any less irritating.

Guess the only silver lining is that when defenders do it against us as well, it allows our players a greater offensive license.
