The World Cup has one pot of eight seeded teams which will include no Asian teams. The other three pots are done by confederation and how Iran does in qualifying will not affect what pot it is in.
You're right, but unless you are one of the 8 #1 seeds, it doesn't matter how you finish since every team from Asia is placed in the same pot. Beat me to it:
