I remember people crapping on the signing for lack of name recognition but he is still the best pure striker in MLS and better than most other leagues for that matter. Hopefully they can line on Don Andreas in the summer window.

I'm not sure I heard anyone crapping thusly.

You heard the usual BS that he was too old by people who did actually check or watch him play

Of the first three big names at NYCFC, he's the only one who has consistently produced. He's worth bringing back.

Honestly my first reaction to the text of the tweet before playing the video was that this was some spin on the pitch (field) at Yankee Stadium being "great".

Kudos to Villa, to NYC FC, and to the league. "Mr. EPL" had all the hype. He was supposed ot be the superstar on this team, but he never seriously wanted to contribute here and the first chance he got--he took his $ and left. Villa however came to play--not as much hype, but seriously dedicated to his craft and it started to show on the field. Villa's leadership role on this team is a natural outgrowth of other players on the team observing his work ethic.

Anyone who had warched him knew there was class left. You don't get the numbers he has without it. It wasn't like he was a burner forward, but rather one who read the game well.

I respect what Villa brought to this league not for his goals, but the number of minutes he eats up. The guy must be the iron man of 30+ DPs. It doesn't matter if a game is on turf, if it's 100 degrees or if it's 3 games in one week. The guy is always out there putting in an 80-90 minute shift. There's many strikers in this league who are 10-15 years younger and they can't handle that workload.
