Hi, I try to find all important historical full-matches. I'm acknowledged that not all are available particularly during the 1950s and early 1960s but let me check if I miss some available matches. The oldest available full-match I found in internet is the 1953 Match of Century between Hungary and England and only two matches of World Cup 1954 (Final and Semi-Final) are found. I understand no full-match available before 1953 such as the 1930s World Cup, Central European International Cup and Mitropa Cup ? The European Cup final between 1956 and 1959 and the 1st half 1960s Intercontinental Cup final are seemingly unavailable ? Is there any available full-matches of Copa America before 1979 tournament ? Please contribute any link of full-match or long highlight if you have some videos I have missed. Thanks you very much for your time.
The earliest recording of a complete football game that I know of is form 1920 if I remember correctly, the 1920 German championship final between Nürnberg and Fürth (local rivalry). Unfortunately the footage is lost. The European Cup finals from 1956 to 1959 have yet to appear in full length. That's one of the stranger things out there, because other European Cup games from that period (semi finals, quarterfinals) have appeared in full length. I can't believe that the final games are not available in some European tv vault. They should be. One of the most sought-after games is the 1962 demolition of Benfica by Santos of which we have highlights but not the full game. It has peak Pelé in arguably his greatest game for Santos thus it would be really a treat to see the complete game.
That is a great information to know the first ever record of football game. Could you share me about semi-finalist and quarter-finalist of the 1956 -1959 European Cup videos.
The 1941 German championship final (Schalke v Rapid Vienna 3-4) was recorded in colour and full length by a film production team and they cut out highlights of that game for a ficticious movie about a football star. Since they only needed a handful of highlights they cut the footage down to a few minutes. It gives a hint how good footage from that era could have been if it had been recorded professionally by a film crew. It would be quite a treat if the complete recording of the game would surface one day...
Thanks you. Anyway I actually ask about the 1956 - 1959 European Cup season in seasonal year. Is any of them available ?
I have not updated my database in ages because I have stopped trading games ca. 4 years ago but if I remember correctly there are games from season 1958-59 but I can't find them on YouTube. I have to look at my notes of games.
Going through my notes I found only one more game from 1959-60: 1959-60 FC Barcelona - Real Madrid semi 50 minutes The other games up to 1959 are either friendlies (both clubs/countries), World Cup qualifiers or World Cup games.
I can't find the demolition link of this match. Could you provide here ? There are available two full-matches of Santos in its peak era, 1962 Friendly against Hamburge and 1963 Copa Libertadores Cup final but the second one is too unclear.
Sorry I found I misunderstood that there is a full-length highlight of this match that I was looking for.
Hi Gregoriak I'm Niccolò, an italian journalist. I have a website, www.gameofgoals.it when I write about old matches that I watched on YouTube or Footballia. Do you have Barcelona-Real Madrid 59/60 European Cup semifinal 50 Min.? How can I do to watch this match? Thanks, regards
I just read through this thread again and now I see that I apparently have those 50 minutes of Barcelona v Real Madrid .... I have to look if I find it and then I will share it with you. I can send you a DVD or I'll upload it to youtube. Provided I find it!
Ok Gregoriak, thanks a lot! If yo want contact me in pvt, this is my e-mail: niccolo.mello@libero.it Instead, if you prefer upload it to YouTube, let me know. See you soon
Hello Gregoriak. I saw your posting on here while looking for old football matches. I'm big fan of Di stefano and Puskas. I'd like to see the game you mentioned, and I'd like to ask if I can watch it. Do you currently have the video? Is there a way to watch the game you mentioned? Thank you.
Well unfortunately since I moved a few years ago I have not kept any order in my DVD collection. Those DVDs are somewhere but I don't know where unfortunately!
