What is suspicious is the combination of being that ripped but also able to get around the pitch like that
It's a standard trope applied to black players I think I mentioned before an analysis of the All Black players on allblacks.com in 2015 for the world cup the black players were all "physical weapons" whereas the white guys had "high rugby intelligence" nowhere was a Polynesian player credited with rugby intellect
I love Lukaku and wished we'd jumped on him. Just biologically one form of intelligence has nothing to do with the other.
And I'm in 100% agreement with you, but being able to speak 6 languages isn't the same part of the brain as spatial intelligence.
In all seriousness Rugby is doped to hell. My short hand proof is Michael Jones vs Richie McCaw Jones was a super fit athletic flanker in the late 80s who then bulked up and slowed down. That relationship still existed in the amateur era. Then along comes McCaw who can somehow be 10kg heavier than Jones, as fast as Jones, and with better endurance than Jones. Jones was a very fit guy for the era. There is simply no way you can carry 10 extra kg around the field with no tradeoffs at all unless you are doping. I am fine to believe some of it can be diet and conditioning improvements. But not 10kg Right now we've got Scott Barrett who is fully 20kg heavier - yet almost as athletic and can run all game.
I trust the ultimate conclusion that Rugby is "doped as hell". But from a scientific perspective you can't use Jones as a control for McCaw or Barrett, they are different individuals with different genetic makeups. You would need to use identical twins with one as a control. The first step would be to measure their speed and endurance. Then the control would bulkup by lifting alone and the other twin would bulk up by lifting while doping. Followed by testing the difference between their pre bulking up speed and endurance and their post bulking up speed and endurance. Alternatively, you could test the different scenarios in one individual. BTW you've noted that Ozil's sprint volume has decreased from his pre Arsenal levels. Since he bulked up after his first season at Arsenal to handle the rigors of the premier league, does the reduction in sprint volume suggest he's not doping? Does it suggest he is slowing down with age? Or alternatively does it suggest he was doping at Madrid but not at Arsenal?
Another bright game for Pulisic. Gets his first goal at the Bridge. And his 5th in 3 games. Happy for him. Edit: after FT he and Willian had a nice warm embrace, with the latter saying "USA, USA". Not long ago they seemed direct rivals... now they're both in the XI on either side of the pitch.
Well of course it is not scientific, but i could have made any number of comparisons. The thing is there used to be somewhat of a relationship between bulk and stamina. You could get very big - and of course the big players can be very explosive - but that would be a disadvantage in terms of getting round the paddock. Also people tend to assume the pre-pro players were poor athletes - the but like of Jones were amazingly fit and powerful guys. I think it has nothing to do with doping. Wenger reconfigured him. Bulked him up and asked him to do less sprints.
VAR does it again! Blades deserved equalizer is ruled out after a 3+ minute review. Because a guy's toenail is offside. If the result stands, we keep 5th place... for the next 60 mins at least. Ha. Edit: Nope! They end up getting another equalizer. Which holds up to VAR. SUFC now take 5th.
I know some people don't care for other sports talk in this thread. But of all the teams I follow/support. I didn't expect the Phoenix Suns to be the most successful one, shows what good coaching can do
Montreal signs Thierry Henry on a two-year coaching contract. Probably a little better level for him there, compared to Monaco. Forget about Arsenal!
