I love that they went down a goal on the road and came back to score three. Shows that they're still motivated. Werner and Ginczek had a nice partnership yesterday. I'm not the biggest Werner fan but I'd much rather he play than Harnik at this point. Also, I love Serey Die's attitude. What a good signing he turned out to be.
Here are the highlights: http://www.foxsports.com/soccer/video?vid=531038787561 Got a bit of luck that the shot in first half stoppage time by Hannover hit the post. However, it look like the defender may have just tipped it.
Nothing like playing the worst team in the league to get you back on track! Seriously, with Gladbach and Hoffenheim coming up, we could get on a roll.
Rumor has it that Harnik & Didavi are on their way out. I really like Harnik and his attitude, but with his abysmal conversion rate, his leaving won't be a big blow. Didavi on the other hand...
Didavi used to be one of the few who could score reliably, but today he was also a little off. I'm not sure there's really too much between him and Maxim if the scoring isn't there.
There's another report mentioning that if Harnik and Didavi were to leave in the winter, Divock Origi may be available on loan from Liverpool. http://www.fussballinfo.net/2015/09...-und-harnik-im-winter-weg-kommt-divock-origi/
Kostic is out for a while, per VfB's website: http://www.vfb.de/en/aktuell/meldungen/news/2015/verletzung-filip-kostic/page/3939-1-1-.html?f2
Can't Didavi leave for free next summer? We may just be trying to get anything in return since it doesn't seem like he's considering a new contract.
Supposedly, Didavi and Harnik leaving this winter is off the table now. Stuttgart is said to have made a generous offer to Didavi, but he seems determined to leave. If all else fails, it'll be a free transfer at the end of the season.
Ouch, Kostic too. Time for the subs to step up and do well. http://www.vfb.de/en/aktuell/meldungen/news/2015/pk-vor-tsg-hoffenheim-vfb/page/3944-1-1-.html?f2
Update on Ginczek from VfB's website: http://www.vfb.de/en/aktuell/meldun...zek-vor-hoffenheim-vfb/page/3946-1-1-.html?f2 To paraphrase the old Booker T. Jones song, "If it wasn't for bad luck, VfB wouldn't have any luck at all!"
I am guessing that we all figured Ginczek would be out for a while but now it's official: http://www.espnfc.us/german-bundesl...daniel-ginczek-out-for-2015-with-slipped-disc Ginczek will be out until January.
Jerome Kiesewetter had a really good tournament with the US U-23 for Olympic qualifying, 4 goals and 2 or 3 assists. However, CONCACAF U-23 is definitely not the Bundesliga. Wishful thinking says that this opening is what finally lets Timo Werner reach some of his potential.
If either Jerome or Timo get time, they'd better make the most of their opportunity! This team needs as many goals as it can get.
Unfortunate to give up the lead and the points in this one. Was at least and entertaining game. Here are the highlights: http://www.foxsports.com/soccer/video?vid=551168067561
I was hoping they could get at least a draw against Beyer Lederhosen, after the win the previous week.
Rupp is out for a while with a broken hand: http://www.vfb.de/en/aktuell/meldungen/news/2015/lukas-rupp-handbruch/page/3984-1-1-.html?f2
Also, VfB travels to FC Carl Zeiss Jena for a 2nd Round Cup tie today. Apparently FC Carl Zeiss Jena added a temporary stand and some floodlights for the occasion.
Spoiler Alert A nice win against Jena. 2-0 Carl Ziess has claimed some scalps in the past, and if there was ever a team they could have done it to again, it would be our boys these days. Nice to see Harnik finally scoring in both league and cup play again. His season had been a disaster up to this point. If Stuttgart is going to finish out of the drop zone, it's vital Martin gets his sh*t together. Didavi cant do it all.
Glory Hallelujah! With a 2-0 defeat of Darmstadt, Stuttgart move out of the relegation zone, at least temporarily. They're still not out of danger, but hopefully their play will continue to improve, and they'll climb the table. Beating a team that is ahead of you in the table should help build team confidence! Let's keep up the 2-0 victories!
