I believe that Press does not have the speed of thought necessary for soccer at its highest level. She kills attacks by playing faster than she thinks.
Ertz's shirt is covered in blood. I don't know how she is still being allowed to be on the field. Fix that lip.
Umm... why was the entire US team so high up field on that corner kick? They're begging to be caught on a counter or a moment of midfield brilliance.
1-0 for the US that should be at least 3-0. This is NOT good soccer. The US needs to finish attacks MUCH more often. They are giving a bad team a chance to believe they can win. Based on real chances it really should be 1-1. The US is playing down to the opposition.
Well then they're a little more lax. In the grand scheme of things having a blood-covered jersey isn't much worse than have a blood-soaked blob of fabric hanging out of your mouth. It seems "fixing that lip" was far easier said than done.
LOL... we get it, you don't like Press. She's been sloppy, but at least she's getting open, making good runs and creating threats. What exactly have Morgan and Heath done? Heath's turned the ball over almost every time she's touched it.
Of course. The USwill win by conditioning and not by the skill they should show. SA is not going to win even if they score 12 but SA will lose.
Actually I like Press. I just think that she plays at the national level like Josh Wolfe did for the men. She creates chances and then kills them by some bad play or poor choices. She should be a late sub to get a goal when the opposition is unable to react fast enough to take advantage of her thought weakness.
If I was the S.A. Coach, I would be subjecting the refs to a full blown conniption fit about Ertz’s blood. JE is pig headed keeping Ertz in because that was the plan. If Long is the only healthy midfielder on the bench, that is a situation of her own making.
Organizers are going to need to have a talk with the stretcher crew after the Johnson & Johnson ad was carried out upside down.
The SA goalkeeper is slowing down the game quite effectively. She may be actually injured or she may just be slowing things down. Whatever is actually the cause the effect is that the game gets slower and slower.
I almost was able to attend this match, but my friend in Silicon Valley who was going to join me for the match and provide transportation/lodging decided two months after I called dibs on this weekend that a random sibling trip to Vietnam was more important. Based on how the way the game is unfolding, I think I'll be able to forgive him.
3-0 US (late goal for the US coming from VERY poor/stupid play by SA) in a quite boring match. SA wanted to hold the score down and the US wanted to avoid injury. Both sides mostly got what they wanted. I would say that neither side learned anything from this wasted snore fest.
