Sarachan blows it up with a 3-5-2 with lots of different faces. Genk, Belgium has a large Italian industrial immigrant population and an Italian-language radio station, per John Strong.
We showed some heart today and were beaten by a better team. Horvath had a great showing and was MOTM. My main gripe was the coverage. My pet peeve is replays during live action and then a replay of what you missed while live action is going on. Too many cameras following a player for no reason or shots of the coaches sitting down. Hopefully, this is the last of Sarachan.
I am guessing the date of the announcement of the new USMNT coach will be December 21st. After the Re-Entry Draft. My guess if it is Gregg, he will make sure the MLS crap is out of the way before he is announced.
Shouldn't he have ripped that off like a band-aid by now? Also, the juxtaposition of the Austin sticker. Also, the sticker of the "we don't get involved with club matters" AO's, who then co-opted a TIFO from a Dos-a-Cero match in Crew Stadium in a self-promoting tire commercial. It is assclownery on multiple levels.
I think you're now reading too much into it, and as a consequence, you are giving that clown entirely too much power and credit.
I don't see how kvetching about this is worth more than a "meh" either. So why kvetch? The dumb******** probably forgot what stupid "signals" he slapped on his "bumper sticker mobile of the Millenial generation".
You kvetched that he had the stickers there at all, which is why I asked the question. Clearly it bothered you to have seen his laptop cover, which has looked that way for a very long time.
The idea that the USMNT is so dead set on Berhalter that it doesn't even consider a conversation with Lopategui drives me crazy. Especially as the US is transitioning to a younger generation and team. Lopategui won U-19 and U21 World Championships. He was seen as good enough to manage Spain this World Cup cycle. He was undefeated in two years at the helm. He was then seen as good enough to manage Real Madrid and they fired him because Real Madrid always does this. Gregg Berhalter was fired from a mid table Swedish team for boring football. He won nothing in 5 years at the helm of the Crew. He never beat an MLS side in the US Open Cup. The most accomplished player he ever coached was maybe Kei Kamara, Harrison Afful, or Jonathan Mensah. The greatest prospect he coached was Will Trapp, who has stagnated so much that any move to Europe would be to a lower league side. The USMNT deserves every brutal failing they will suffer under Berhalter. I can't stand what the USMNT has become and the arrogance of people in charge. I was always club over country, but this is the easiest the USMNT has made it. What a clown show.
On the plus side, compared to Thomas Dooley, Berhalter is the second coming of Sir Alex. I am literally stunned that somebody with a resume that thin and devoid of anything like achievement would apply for a position higher than NCAA Div 2. As for the US, I find it harder and harder to care. We have very little talent and the guys that show promise will be developed at the club level, not the national team. With the new format, the US will always qualify for the finals and once in will get bounced long before theyre a serious threat to accomplish anything. So what does it matter?
Lopategui has been good with Spain only. Was crap at Rayo, crap at Porto, and managed a whopping 43% win percentage with REAL FREAKING MADRID.
I don’t know but I’m going to bet lopategui is Italian? So naturally hang (or Scot) thinks he’s the greatest. [emoji1744][emoji3603]
The main issue with Lopategui at Porto was that he happened to manage at the same time that Jorge Jesus (possibly the most underrated manager in Europe, and definitely deserving of a bigger club) managed Benfica and then Sporting. He got Porto to the Champions League quarterfinals. Gregg Berhalter lost to FC Cincinnati. Lopategui was good enough with the Spain youth teams and with Porto (68% winning percentage) to warrant the Spanish national team. He was good enough with the Spanish national team to warrant a Real Madrid. He managed 14 games at a Real Madrid team in transition. On the other side.....Gregg Berhalter has never accomplished 1/4 as much as Lopategui and has a 38% win percentage and a cumulative +6 goal differential over 5 years with Columbus Crew. To not even give Lopategui a glance when he offers himself because eyes are fully set on Berhalter is moronic.
Bleacher Report is now reporting USSF also turned down opportunities to have conversations with Roberto Donadoni. (James, he's Italian!!!). I don't necessarily believe the report because Bleacher Report is shit. But, here is another more qualified coach being passed over because Gregg Berhlater speaks better English. Good times.
When my siblings arrive we have Manhattans on Thanksgiving Eve. Family tradition but I'll be happy to raise a glass in your honor.
