Very nice work. One thing that really stands out is that you put their ages at the time of the next WC and that creates a real eye opening reality on some of these guys. If a player isn't a whole lot better than someone who is a lot younger it clearly doesn't matter if they ever get a callup / another callup.

Lets see if I did this right... Here is the link to the Google Sheet for the coaches pool. I appreciate any comments to improve this spread sheet.

So far Sarachan has 1 possible call-up since taking over.

    0 Camps:

    1 Rosters/Games:
    (1) Portugal

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Rules for this pool:
    • Sarachan has/had to list a player on a roster or call them up to a camp/game
    • All info (Minutes Played, Caps, Camps etc) is accumulated from when Sarachan took over

Edit: use the tabs along the bottom of the spread sheet to view positions.

To me, the focus is not 2022. The focus is WCQ which could start in the fall of 2019. Any player that can help us qualify should be considered.

@Footsatt, LOVE the spreadsheet. Looks great, man!! The only thing I noticed that should be corrected is Jesse Gonzalez should have his "camps/rosters" and "current camp" changed to 1 and y, respectively. Otherwise, I think it looks great. Good work!

    @Footsatt

    Looks good.

I have a recommendation, or request better yet... instead of current camp (y/n), can we do last current camp. And if it is current, just put either “C” or “current”. That way, if say, a guy like McKennie is not called into January Camp, (which he won’t be), we can see his last call up was “Nov 2017”.

@Footsatt, do you think it's worth putting players' clubs that own their contracts on the sheet? For example, for CCV would you want to put Tottenham (on loan to Sheffield United?)

Na... for this I think it's about where they are playing now, not who owns the contract.

Since @Carvelli3 is helping with the master list (which he’s done amazing work to). I’m going to try adding a shorthand analysis on the player pool. USA Top 50 rankings. I’ll include four deep in each position, and include a +1 for goalkeeper, fullback, center back, defensive midfielder, attacking midfielder and forward. Additionally, I’ll have a subsection for players on the cusp, and u23 players to watch for.

Please comment if you believe this would be a welcome addition. I’ll also continue to plan on working with @Carvelli3 on the Master List.

Erik Palmer-Brown is @ Man City since Sporting's season is over might as well change it especially is you got Sargent @ Bremen.
Brooks Lennon is @ Liverpool on loan to RSL.

Other than those I like this list.

Noted. I missed that but monitoring moving forward. Also Juan Torres started for Lokeren. Problem is there is plethora of D/CMs but not nearly enough W/AMs... I may just switch it to midfielders moving forward, and slide guys that are more forward than holding mids (like Pulisic, Arriola, Gooch) to forward.

*Let me add... thank y’all for the feedback, as the goal is to provide the least amount of bias possible.

I think there are a few things to keep in mind. For field players, by the age of 24-25, they are who they are. We can't really expect any more development, except perhaps for CBs perhaps until 27ish. For GKs, I'd pick age 28. Before these ages, we might expect some improvement, but after is just wishful thinking.

In addition, before we get too excited about players from the u17s, they might be the most talented u17 team we've seen in a while, but we should expect 2 or 3 of the u17s to end up on the MNT in 5 years...that's what history tells us.

Also, if a player really is a top talent, by 18 or 19 he should probably be playing significant first team minutes (i.e. 30 minutes/week) for a club in leagues that are tier 1 (England, Germany, Italy, Spain), tier 2 (i.e. Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, France, Holland) or starting in a tier 3 (i.e. Belgium or MLS). If he's not doing this, then we should be looking elsewhere. Keep in mind the guys on the u17 team aren't even at this spot yet.

And before anyone freaks out, I don't hate MLS. All I'm saying is that if our best MLS teams can't beat Mexico's second tier (Europa level) teams in the CONCACAF CL, then I'd say MLS is a cut below Mexico. If MLS were to loosen the purse strings and bring in better talent, then MLS teams would be more competitive.

So, going forward, this is an 11 I might come up with today....

    Miazga, CCV, Brooks
Yedlin, Adams, Gonzalez, McK, any left WB
    CP
    any forward

I'm not booting Bradley because I hate the guy (I don't) but because his career is on the downside due to age, and he's above average in a third tier league, so he's not used to seeing quality on the other side of the ball. Adams should improve and is more athletic, Gonzalez is starting for the league leaders in Mexico (a better league than MLS) and while McK is starting for the second best team in the BL. Take out the names, and I'd take the 18 yearold starting for Monterey or the 19 yearold starting for Schalke ahead of the 30 year old starting for Toronto. And I'm talking about today....not even a few years from now.

If we are still calling in Jozy in 3 years, we have real problems. He's 28 today...he's not going to improve. If anything, he's going to get worse. He's a good/decent forward in a 3rd tier league. Is that really the best the USMNT can do for forward by 2020?

Here is another player that moved to 1st team. Jonathan Amon
You may want to add 18 y.o. Jonathan Amon, he plays for FC Nordsjaelland in Denmark 1st division and he is a LEFT WINGER
and scored this past weekend in his 3rd league game.

I realize your lineup is a work-in-progress as of the day you wrote it, things are changing very fast especially for our younger players, just this past week a new teen got his first start for his 1st division team and scored, his name is Jonathan Amon and he is a left winger. I don't think he should be penciled in just yet but he should be monitored closely because his playing position is a position of need in our NT.

Fafa Picault is a left winger and probably the fastest in MLS. He ended the season scoring and assisting in his last 2 games. I would say his current trajectory is going up at 2 o'clock direction.

Fafa Picault will never be a major player for the USMNT

Do we have many "major players"? I think you are setting the bar too high for him. I think he brings something that we hardly have, speed from the wing. Is he better than the rest of MLS wingers? I don't know but I do know for sure there isn't anyone faster than him and yes, Fafa is even faster than Jonathan Amon or even Ariola. What goes against Fafa is that he is already 27, he wasted lots of years in the German lower divisions. Maybe we can recycle him for temporary duty until and younger stronger version of him shows up.

The Danish Superliga may not be among the very best in Europe, but the FC Nordsjælland Academy (including their Right to Dream Academy abroad) is among the very best there is :

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Right_to_Dream_Academy

    https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/jonathan-amon-fc-nordsjælland-in-denmark.2052223/page-5#post-36133680

... FCN also got the youngest top-flight squad in all of Western Europe, so when they start raving about a young player like Amon and even send him all the way to their academy in Ghana for 4 month to hide him from scouts representing clubs in the top leagues, then you should really take notice ...

Per 11Bravo's suggestion from the Yanks Abroad thread:

Big 4 UCL regular playing time
    • Pulisic/BVB
    Big 4 non-UCL regular
    • McKennie/Schalke
    • FJ/Gladbach
    • Chandler/Eintracht
    • Brooks/Wolfsburg
    • Williams/Huddersfield
    • Wood/Hamburg
    • Yedlin/Newcastle
    • Cameron/Stoke
3rd Tier regular (about leagues 5-15)
    • Miazga/Vitesse
    • JGonzalez/Monterrey
    • CCV/Sheffield United
    • Villafana/Santos (not sure he has regular minutes)
    • Saif/Gent
    • Robinson/Bolton (had to look him up....)
4th Tier regular (about leagues 16-25 ~ MLS)
    • Amon/FC Nordsjælland
    • Siebatcheau/Reims
    • Green/Furth
    • Morales/Ingolstadt

Not sure how to slot these players relative to the list above.

    Big 4 UCL Irregular/Reserve
    • EPB/ManCity
    Big 4 non-UCL Irregular/Reserve
    • Shaq/Levante (very close to regular minutes?)
    • Stanko/Freiburg (very close to regular minutes?)
    • Sargent/Bremen
    • Klinnsman/Hertha
    • Hyndman/Bournemouth
    3rd Tier Irregular/Reserve (about leagues 5-15)
    • Parks/Benefica
    • Gooch/Sunderland
4th Tier Reserve (about leagues 16-25 ~ MLS)
    • Wright/Sandhausen
    • Horvath/Brugge

Green = potential to rise to higher level

Red = risk of falling to a lower level or getting benched
