DeMerit reports taht he had a couple more eye proccedures at the end of the season and that he does not expect his vision to be 100% fo the WC. From soccer by Ives.
Might affect his depth perception. On the other hand, he does have one good eye and has had several months to get used to playing with impaired vision in one eye. Bobby Convey has been legally blind in one eye throughout his career.
Gooch, Boca, and Marshall are in full training with the NT. A few other injury updates: http://yanks-abroad.com/get.php?mode=blog&entry=94
We need video of the limp. I think my analysis of the CD video was right on, so let's have some erstwhile Zapruder step up here.
Hamstring can be unpredictable. Just when you think it is fine you make a quick run and it is a problem again. Hope this does not become a problem.
Here's video of Gooch running sans ball starting about 0:56. http://www.ussoccer.com/Multimedia/Media-Center.aspx#/id=f19ae20d-acac-40af-b2f2-2565cf60a43c
Bradley revealed today that Bocanegra had hernia surgery before reporting to camp (on May 5th). In addition per the AP report, "Midfielder DaMarcus Beasley has been practicing with a sprained thumb and appeared bothered by his right shoulder Saturday." All 30 players were in full training today. Bradley says that all 30 will be available for the Czech match.
My goodness, I dont know how anyone can feel too confident about the backline with these injury problems. They may say these guys are 100% healthy and in form but I have to see it to believe it
From the NYT clip linked above ... I think that quote speaks for itself, though something doesn't quite add up (to 100%). http://www.soccerbyives.net/soccer_by_ives/2010/05/usmnt-training-camp-day-three-update.html Previous cycles and the inability to kick the ball pain-free? Or just a precaution?
Well in 2006 Keller started the Morocco game, Howard started the Venezuela game, and Keller started the Latvia game. I think Howard is saying that he expects Guzan and/or Hahnemann will see some game time at some point. Trainer Pierre Barrieu spoke about the center back injuries today: Bocanegra also talked about his hernia procedure. Basically he said he expects to be ok. I put the quotes in the Bocanegra thread.
Jones: Neue Operation, neuer Angriff http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...tikel_Jones_Neue-Operation-neuer-Angriff.html I used Google Translate and it seems the article is saying that Jermaine had a secret surgery in the U.S. this past month with Dr. Bert Mandelbaum (USSF physician) and had a pin put into his tibia. The quote from Jermaine says that the pain is finally gone. If anyone with better language skills could confirm this it would be nice.
From the Jermaine Jones Yanks Abroad thread by poster Hobo: https://www.bigsoccer.com/forum/showthread.php?t=483334&page=54 Good news...as if we needed one more central midfielder
