Disney are the ones who are scanning the tickets, so I'm not too sure how it will work this year. But, I imagine that they (OCSC) will announce 5,300 (capacity) for every match. Pretty much every seat was occupied. The North and South stands are GA bleachers, so it's hard to judge.
The crowd in LA seemed bigger than that. I would have said the stadium was 80% full, so 1,600. Maybe everyone was spread out so it seemed like there were more people than there really were.
My bet is that Orlando is totally focused on MLS and won't make the effort to announce any attendances this year, especially since it will be lower than last year and they have no interest in feeding any possible naysayers anything to naysay about.
I've been in their ears about it. It just seems to go against logic not to try to capitalize on our gains in 2013, especially the 20k at the Championship Game. They could've built a temp venue if they wanted. They just didn't see it as important, and focused on the permanent venue. They'll probably get around to it eventually, but no, they are currently likely in a mindset that they have nothing to prove.
After all these years, we have eradicated smallpox, but can't get rid of this simple meme. I love people like you, who figure that stadiums are like inflatable pools. YOU'RE GOING TO MLS. YOU THINK PEOPLE ARE GOING TO FORGET ABOUT THAT IF THEY DON'T 'CAPITALIZE ON YOUR GAINS IN 2013?'
Don't worry. Now that the Guinea worm is on the ropes, the Gates Foundation has put this on their list to tackle next.
LOL, yeah I wouldn't read too much into it. Last year LA Blues got 1,400 for their first game!...and then 337 for the next one.
And to be fair ... Galaxy II's success is much less dependent on the attendance figures than an OC Blues team might be.
Does home games for Chivas Reserves (or any other MLS reserve squad outside of Galaxy II) count toward USL attendance? I assume not.
They added some behind the goal as well as the GA lawn area on the other end. I think 3-4 k is probably right
I am so excited about Orlando City apparently blowing off attendance reporting this year. But should probably not be surprised by it. ...well, at least the Orlando paper has a number for this past weekend's game, 4776 ...and wikipedia has 5028 for their home opener. But doesn't give a source. Sounds like from discussions on here, that's pretty much the stadium capacity, so I'll risk it and use that number.
The source is the USL website. And if it excites you that much, then you really need to seek mental help. Or find a different hobby. Isn't there enough other stuff to do in Austin, or is the post-con depression from SXSW that bad? "Look, Nelson. Move on. I am."
Interesting. It wasn't there the last two times I checked. Thanks! If you check my previous posts, I'm always grumpy about the USL and their Pro teams failing to report attendances, no matter which city they are. As far as I'm concerned, it's a basic part of what any professional team should do.
