Does anyone know when Louisville might be debuting their kits? Or any of the USL teams, for that matter?
Likely because those are the colors of the biggest youth club in the area - St. Louis Scott Gallagher. Who will share the same facilities and I believe are a big force behind the ownership etc. Built in USDA Academy system already too. I really think so long as the $$ is there to pay appropriate wages, this expansion team has a chance for great success. I've been to the stadium and it's perfect for USLPro. It has great restaurant/bar looking over stadium with additional concessions and even has Merch shop. Lots of fields for training and I believe onsite sports med.
the red and black are a return to our away striped kits The home kit will be the traditional yellow and black stripes
New Riverhounds away kit- http://instagram.com/p/wuBy1WydXt/ Home will be black and gold. Probably the same design.
yeah, and I'm not a fan of that. I'm hoping it's a different design but I thought I heard them mention stripes.
Stripes for Pittsburgh wouldn't be bad, except Charleston already has the same design. If they go with stripes for home, they shouldn't stripes away. Not a fan of teams doing that. But just imagine a yellow and black striped logo with the Steel Army logo on it instead of the Riverhounds logo...gosh, I hope they re-brand soon
Yeah if they do black and gold stripes I really hope it's a different format. Maybe something like this old Crew jersey since it would mimic the city of Pittsburgh flag layout.
Re: the similarity of uniforms, do these teams get semi-custom (within the manufacturer's template, this is still soccer) designs from the manufacturer like MLS teams do or are they pretty much just ordering from the Eurosport catalog?
The manufacturers will typically guide the design or product. Many professional teams across the country still use a template or a modified template. These teams simply don't have the selling ability to have their own design. Even in the Premier League, teams that sign a new contract with a manufacturer have to typically use a stock/template design for 2-3 years before they get their own style. This allows for the manufacturer to drive the product to MORE clubs/consumers to chase that specific product.
There were a couple teams last year that used the white stripe down the left side template, but at least the colors were different. I don't have an issue with the blue and black, but if the Hounds home jersey is the exact same colors and style as Charleston then I think that's bad.
I was referring more to the ability of the Riverhounds and Battery to go with black and yellow stripes and still have some differentiation other than the crest (stripe width, order of the colors, etc) or are they all working from the same basic striped jersey design and two black and yellow striped jerseys are certain to be identical except for the badge. I realize that even the best clubs in the world don't have that much more leeway than someone ordering from Eurosport, thus the parenthetical comment in my earlier post. Fully bespoke uniforms are a North American thing for the most part (although Aussie Rules jerseys seem to lack templating), quickly becoming a North American professional sports thing, and likely well on its way to being a North American professional baseball thing (if that).
I know what you were referring to, and I addressed it. No way, the stripe width will ALWAYS be the same with templates. There's really no way for any USL Pro teams to have their "own" style...unless they have a major connection with some provider. That said, some providers do fully customize kits. Those providers that offer full-customization are smaller companies and may not give a great deal compared to what larger providers can offer. The providers run the business, they choose what teams can and will wear -- basically. Then, once you start liking a design...they rip it away from you and make you go another direction!
More than likely the designs are already done, but I saw this on Harrisburg's site: Calling all fans: Harrisburg wants YOUR 2015 kit designs! Click here to create: bit.ly/1y4Zcw0 & share with us using #HCIKit on Facebook, Twitter & Instagram!
@mikehurst21 Is that blue or black? Having some trouble telling in that picture's light. Good to see they have a sponsor though
On the team's website, it appears more dark blue, and the GK is shown wearing a black jersey, no collar.
