Segbers was recalled to the Revs for the USOC match. He missed six games with Orange County before returning July 7th, and has started 5 of the last six with OC.

    On the year, he has 16 GP (13 starts), 1084 minutes, 2 G, 3 A, 3 YC.

Seems like a very successful loan. Very few Rev loanees have gotten much p.t.

Hopefully this sort of thing will continue with Hartford next year

USL is starting another league (Division 3) beginning next year. Two MLS-owned clubs will be joining: Orlando City B (on hiatus in 2018) and Toronto FC II (moving down from USL Div II).

FC Tucson (host of the Mobile Mini Sun Cup, formerly known as the Desert Diamond Cup) will also be joining.

Why would they move down? Does D3 allow amateur/collegiate/academy players to participate?

Good question. I know TFC2 is at the bottom of the USL table (3W-20L-3T). They are averaging less than 1,000 in attendance, including a league single-game low of 50.

This article states the goal of USL-D3: "The league remains focused on positioning teams for long-term success by creating regional rivalries that reduce travel costs, encourage supporter travel and deliver on-field excitement."

Found an SI article from March 2017 detailing USL-D3 and some of the difference between D2 and D3:

    And this:
Eighteen months later, apparently MLS WILL allow it.

I think usl has grown at an enourmous pace, and the general level of play from non affilaiate clubs has been high. D3 is cheaper, and a better look for franchises that struggle than no affiliate team at all. Add in that usl has 7 expansion teams planned for 2019, and losing 2 teams is not really the crisis it may have been 2 years ago

Some of my NY friends over the weekend (for the US match) were very thankful that Bob Kraft never spent the money on his own USL team, which helps them stay ahead of us.

Of course! Fans of other teams LOVE the Kraft way of running the Revs. One less team they have to worry about.

Doesn't seem like the Revs are going to use Hartford as a partnership either. Amazing what little this team can do right.

Another stroke of brilliance for Bilello and Burns. No need to have your end of bench players have the opportunity to play and stay game sharp. All our academy kids can dream of one day being Zach Herivaux

Yet another example of an owner who actually cares about his club. Slight difference from how Kraft has treated his club, isn't it?

If true, that seems like an incredible opportunity missed by the Revs.

Something Twellman mentioned during the RBNY-Atlanta matches is that RB is winning Supporters Shields in part because their young players are learning to compete and win with their USL team. What is Herivaux , Anking, etc. learning?

I'm sure there'll be some excuse. More training time with the senior squad!

Having a full roster might solve that problem.
