San Antonio continues MLS push with USL expansion club announcement January 8, 2016 MLSsoccer staff MLSsoccer.com This brings USL up to 31 teams, with 29 playing in 2016. Austin has suspended for the year, and Reno is an expansion team coming online in 2017. More territorial infringement, as NASL already has a club in San Antonio (Scorpions). Plus, the new owners of the USL team own the stadium the Scorpions play in. NASL is up to 13 teams this year (losing Atlanta, adding Miami, Puerto Rico and OKC), and will lose Minnesota when they jump to MLS. NASL competing directly with USL in OKC, and now San Antonio. Edit: looks like the Scorpions won't be in NASL this year.
Without San Antonio, NASL has 12 teams in 2016. One-third of those teams are based in Florida: Fort Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Miami, and Tampa Bay.

New name: San Antonio FC San Antonio FC Reveals Crest, Colors USLSoccer.com Staff Report Thursday, February 4, 2016
FC and City are incredibly played out at this point. Pretty disappointing from a naming perspective. In terms of the crest, I'm not sure how I feel about it being such a clone of the Spurs' logo.
So the Scorpions are toast? I kinda liked that name. There has to be a middle ground in naming, in between "MadDoggzzz" and "City" or "FC" (or both, like Detroit City FC). I thought San Antonio Scorpions fit that mold, and Atlanta Silverbacks was also OK. Rochester would do better to get rid of the "Raging" part of their name and come up with a more dignified looking logo, but they could be a lot worse.
Ya, there are some links earlier in this thread, but from what I understand, the owners of the Spurs bought the stadium the Scorpions played in, kicked them out, then started their own USL club.
@chris_camille we'll have a USL affiliate again (very likely Rochester) and will have our own unaffiliated U-23 team— Brian Bilello (@RevsPrez) February 16, 2016

Has anyone heard about the revs u23 since Bilello said they'd have one on Twitter back in February? There is nothing on the revs' website about a u23 team, so I was curious.

Another win for BCFC tonight, while the RI Reds tied at home. 3 games to go, and the Lions are in a good spot. They end the season next weekend with back to back games against GLUFC on 7/9 and 7/10.

First year team BCFC made the playoffs with a 1-0 win at the RI Reds last night. Only two teams make it from their division (are you listening MLS?), and it's Cosmos B and BCFC. There's still one more weekend of play left in the league's regular season.
