There was no need for the foul there. Morgan's bad first touch on that ball meant that she wasn't going to track it down for a 2nd touch. Lloyd converts the PK.

Time for sub 3. The announcer just said Sauerbrunn. Does that mean she's coming on?

eta: Yes. Yes it does. Sauerbrunn on. LePeilbet off.

Becky told me that this past season was the first time in her life she'd played outside back.

I run the risk here of being overly critical. We are winning 8-0. But that was a crappy free kick play.

Rapinoe had the chance for the hat trick there.

HAO should have played the ball to Morgan there. ARod has been half assing it for a while.

And if Lindsey looks this meh vs Guatemala what will she look like vs a team like Mexico or Canada? I'm not encouraged.

perhaps she trying to re-live her youth as a right back?

And Lloyd is tired. I can understand why, of course. But she does look cooked.

I'm just glad we are ending on an even number... I'm superstitious about ending games on odd number goals

Sidenote: Alex Morgan and A-Rod aren't on the same page

I almost hope that Guatemala scores one to make the U.S. pay for their laziness and halfassery. ;) Some poor passes at the back.

    I understand fatigue, but...

I just can't stand the nonchalance of some.

That's why the strikers not named Abby need more playing time together. Offensive cohesion doesn't happen at will, it needs development.

Having said that, Morgan just assisted A-Rod for goal #9. :D

I thought ARod was going to miss that one. And her nonchalance is rewarded. Seriously. Did you see how her body/hips/head was positioned as she was "shooting" there?

And A-rod almost missed Alex's perfect pass...

Hopefully Pia will pair Abby and Alex against Costa Rica.
