So Sarachan will still be the coach? I thought he was only gonna be in charge for the Portugal friendly?

I'd be fine with it. Went young, didn't call in guys like Nagbe, brought Bedoya but didn't start him, played a high press and the movement/tempo was actually a decent amount better than most Arena games.

I'd like cupcake to be U23's so why not just stick with him for now. He's likely bring others like Glad, Roldan and Ramirez. Imagine Sunil bringing in someone else who proceeds to call in the Bradley, Nagbe and Jozy types, then we see a loafing, lazy game vs Bosnia. Boo that.

maybe Arena' success has more Sarachan in there.

Past January Camps have uncovered useful mid-career players. But given the WC situation, this camp should be wholly turned over to U23 and other youth teamers.

I think it all depends on who the coach is at that point. With the US Soccer President election not until February, we most likely wont have a permanent coach by that game. I really hope the coach is not the Arena clone again but he is still under contract until March so it just may be. I think its unfortunate he and the rest of Arena's staff are still around and that it is taking so long to hire a coach. On the other hand, Sunil should NOT hire a coach the next President inherits so I will give him that much.

Sarachan didnt do too badly against Portugal but did call in Bedoya then gave him a 10 minute cameo. I think he mishandled Rowe and Dwyer though and who knows what he would have done with Sargent. Juan A was placed out of position and didnt really get to show his skills. For this game, Id go with Tab... if he'd do it

    #Get3 sounds kind of catchy.

    #Get1 sounds more realistic.

Because Tab is the youth guy, I'd have him in camp to handle the u17-u20 guys of the 2017 cycle just ended as a first step to prepare for 2020 Tokyo Olympics. At the same time he could call in those who meet either criteria of

    A) being prime age (under 30 in 2022) or
    B) being logically helpful for whatever Concacrap League of Nations has in store for us.
    C) Not being somebody who will once again have us getting in our own way - I.ow,, not Bradley and not Acosta and not Nagbe. Those guys know the drill and if they want to answer the call for LoN games later then fine. Calling in Ramirez, otoh, would make sense because he doesn't know the drill and we don't know him.

One of the reasons I prefered Tab getting the senior job is that I wanted to see him handle the program with the objective of qualifying for Olympics because those players will be prime age (on the young side) for 2022 and we've already acknowledged a missing generation in the age just above those youth squads. Tab is now all too familiar with the rejected requests for release of players from big clubs His handling of U20's has been better than handling of U23's by KIinsmann/Herzog and U17's by Ritchie/Hackworth.

So two teams consisted of domestic league players with both having no coach. Awesome!

Bosnian league is arguably one of weakest in Europe, but its players will surely put a great fight against MLS XI.

Well you'll be waiting for Camp Cupcake 2019 at the earliest since the president vote isn't until February. I would love for the vote to be next week so hopefully the real improvement can begin.

Wonder if they will even bother with a camp for this - do they really need 1 month to prepare for this one friendly? probably isnt much use in making guys practice for a month.

Depends on if they sort out the coach situation prior to the camp or not

Identiry the spine of team first.

So far, we know Brooks and Miazga in center d, Pulisic and McKennie in center mid. Then if Woody backs in form, the lone striker.
Four of them play in Bundsliga, so it is better to get a German who knows the clubs well.

How about go for German NT coach Lowe? He would step down after WC.

Going after Alex Ferguson would be equally realistic.

Ferguson would laugh at the USSF if they asked him. Do you really think AF would want to go through qualifying from the bush league that is Concacaf?

I wonder what ticket sales will be like, and how well the game would have done in St. Louis.

I'm quite happy with a trip to LA in January but I'm not paying to see Kellyn Acosta run around like a madman or Adams passing to nobody in amid with Bradley doing his rhino act in dmid. Roldan, Delgado, Durkin, Carleton would be fun to watch playing together.

Judging by the image on wikipedia, it certainly looks delicious. Kinda looks like a gyro/doner, but that has lamb, instead.

Dammit, mattjo! Now you've made me hungry!

I don't think German BL players have been called in for January camps.
Lowe is rumored to be the next Real Madrid coach.
