I just booked a last minute flight deal down to panama for this game, does anyone have an extra ticket for sale or at least know what part of the stadium AO tickets are in? Thanks
Love the last minute buy, rep'd. Section looks to be called "Pref Visitante". There will definitely be extra floating around.
Ask US Soccer (tickets@ussoccer.org) about tickets. Here's the info from the website in which US Soccer alludes to a public sale: http://www.ussoccer.com/schedule-tickets/20170328-us-mnt-vs-panama I'm picking up my ticket from the UPS office today.
Thanks a lot Wixson, the section looks to be Preferencial Este, which is GA. If anyone is in the same boat as me, you can get them online and pick them up a will call in downtown Panama City. http://www.ticketplus.com.pa/FaseHexagonal
Panama has a bunch of international restaurants. You'll see it looks more like Miami than a Central American city. The stuff I personally can't get enough of is tostones. Last time I was there I think we just ate them by the pound. Most of the "traditional" Panama food is pretty typically bland. But I found arroz con Camarones y coco pretty good. All the best restaurants are basically international cuisine
Never been there..disclaimer aside.. the Westin looks a bit remote but close to stadium. Sheraton closer to action, walking to lots of bars/restaraunts.
I think you said you're doing a super quick turnaround I might just stay at the one close to the stadium if it was me. Just eat at the hotel etc. if you were staying for a few days probably stay downtown. I dunno that's just my thoughts
Spent a week in Panama City before, stayed in Casco Viejo. Beautiful area, very European like. It's maybe a five minute drive to downtown. Tons of great restaurants and locations that offer a great view of the skyline. Loved every second of it. I found downtown to be semi lame to be honest. Looks great from a distance with the Miami-esque skyline, bit of a different story at street level though. Watch out for the Colombian hookers at the casinos! http://cascoviejo.org
Also don't try to walk from casco viejo to the causeway. The residents of el chorillo do not uh. Like visitors
I'm thinking about grabbing last-minute tickets for this game. I have my annual review tomorrow with my bosses, so I'll decide then. Any problems with attempting to buy everything last minute?
i have a bit more time than i originally thought. get in monday around noon, leave first thing wednesday morning so i have monday afternoon/evening and all day tuesday.
Go to the locks. One of the coolest things I've ever seen is those mass cargo ships getting dropped like 100 feet. Well worth the $40 whatever it was cab ride. Then get lunch on the Causeway. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES GO IN THE CANAL LOCKS CAFETERIA. You will pay $50 for a shitty lunch. I think we ate at this place https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaur...s-Bucanero_s-Panama_City_Panama_Province.html
Budget traveler tip. There was a public bus to the Miraflores Locks in 2005, which probably still runs. It just requires a reasonable walk from the main road to the Visitor Center. I skipped the museum and upper access at the Visitor Center because I had already visited the Canal Museum in Casco Viejo, which is better and more extensive than that at Miraflores. However you decide to visit or whatever your budget, the locks are a must see. The supertankers squeeze through there with just inches to spare. Casco Viejo was neat. I think it has gentrified a lot since my last visit. I'm curious about the effects of the new highways built to circumvent it and to connect that side of the city to the high rise area. It looks like they ruined the nice shoreline promenade near La Exposicion/Calidonia, which is where I am staying.
Yeah, I observed from the lower level, which was great. I don't remember the price difference. Something like $5 below, $15 up top. It looks like the current price is $15. Maybe it was free vs. $15 back then? Or they eliminated the cheap seat option, and everyone pays $15? I know I didn't have access to the exhibition halls.
