i seriously doubt that about the whining. a) we dont have the ridiculous sense of entitlement to this game that some other people seem to have. we werent expecting to have this game to begin with, and if we dont get it, oh well. we will travel or we will watch it on TV and hope we get a game later in the cycle. b) were not going to waste time whining about it. in my experience us 'westies' have enough other options to keep us busy. if we dont get the game, i will go out to the pub to cheer on the nats, and then get up on thursday and hit the slopes. life goes on.
"westies" and "easties"???!?!??!?! is that REALLY the level at which we should discuss this? how about we wait until an announcement is made and then; the people that are going can plan; the ones that cant go can discuss where they will watch to support; those that are unhappy can complain in a thread all by themselves.
But we have nothing but time to waste and whine while we wait for word on what Venue. I'll be traveling wherever the game is so I can whine or praise all I want!
I'm unemployed right now (freakin economy!) so the only way I'll be able to go is if it's in Columbus. I'm sure the crowd will be a success in either city but obviously I'm rooting for the game to be in Columbus.
im all for praising and whining. but bickering and having 'westies versus easties' is a bit much. of course, im not saying that YOU are doing this kirwan, just in general. everyone can want the match in the best place for them and for the team but the east-west rivalry? come on....
It's not about you, it's about US Soccer. Not east coast/west coast soccer, US Soccer. Nice divide in the first paragraph, nice unite in the last. The contradiction undermines both of your points though... People: Think about the big picture.
Yeah thanks that's what I was going for! "easties" and "westies" were and are said(by me anyway) tongue-in-cheek, hence the " 's. This entire thread is a giant contradiction and bitchfest to say the least. The USSF in their attempt to "negotiate" with CCS by floating this SLC nonsense has accomplished, at the very least, their best supporters fighting on a messageboard... Anyway, I guess it's better than standing in Christmas shopping lines and such! I will now sit back and enjoy the rest of this thread....eagerly awaiting the multitude of threads that start up when ____________ is awarded the match! February cannot get here soon enough! For the record, I'll be at the match regardless of who hosts the match!
I dont like this east vs west debate either. Wherever the game will be , we all have to understand that the fans making the trip there will do their absolute best to make it a pro-US crowd, and will stand and sing the whole time. I dont care where the game is. I'll be there with my group either way. I just think both cities provide a lot of positives that we need to realize and appreciate. SLC has the potential to be another home fortress, so let's stop all the whining if they get it, and let's make it happen. Chase
I still blame the "westies" for Biggie! Seriously though, if the game is in SLC, who wants to chip in to ship a 30x60ft flag there
now the FMF is reporting on there official website that it's Columbus.
You gotta love that the Mexican federation tells us where the match is before our federation does. Thank you USSF.
If it Columbus, which it would appear to be now....looks like US Fed maybe playing hardball with C-Town getting all those 'other' rumors out there to get themselves a better deal there.
Let's not worry about that. Let's just all get together now and make this the most memorable USA mexico match ever. I will be there, and I'll be bringing a group of 5 or six, plus more from Southern California. Hell yes ! Chase
Re: USA - Mexico in COLUMBUS!!! I think this thread can be closed now... of course JMO! See you all in Columbus!
In other threads. If you disagree that that attitude isn't pathetic I don't know what to say. BTW, I've already bought my flights and hotel. Have you? There have been more than a few asses claiming they'd support Mexico if the match weren't in Columbus. That is what I was referring to. In other words I wasn't referring to you or anyone else who doesn't have that view. If it rankles you maybe there's a reason.
i wasnt making a statement either way on the attitude, i was simply unsure where anyone said that their loyalty was dependent upon the match so i asked where, which you answered. thank you. dont worry, nothing on this board rankles me, i was never concerned that you were talking about me, it was simply a question.
