This is from less than two years ago: "USWNT CBA a victory for all American women’s soccer players, not just the best ones"
Superdave everliving. Do you really need three posts of incredulity before you make your actual point?
Did anyone actually read the lawsuit? Cause I did, and I saw some interesting tidbits. I'll just grab my reddit post on it. The WNT continues to complain about the 2015 WC compensation. All of the references to "more revenue" generated by the USWNT is tied to that WC revenue. There is no mention of "profit" in any sense, which on the face of it, doesn't matter, but if the USWNT made any amount of revenue, then ended up costing the same amount as that revenue, then they really wouldn't be generating anything at all... The next allegation, from 2015-2018, the suit points out that the WNT played 19 more games than the MNT over that span. Not that they produced more revenue. This is tied into the part of the suit about "equal work", not that they produced revenue equally. My guess is, if the WNT were generating more revenue over that longer time-span, then they'd have mentioned it. There is an interesting tidbit that says that the WNT player's union wanted a compensation model tied to the revenue generated by the WNT (e.g the more the WNT generated, the more they would get, and during lean years, they'd get less). The USSF rejected that proposal. I'd certainly like to see whatever that proposal was.
Let's not make this into a name calling type of thread and stick to the facts. The fact is the work the women are doing is not as hard as the men. Both Physically and Mentally. When the Men's US National Team Qualifies for the World Cup they have to worry about their lives in some of these environments like Central America and Mexico. Crazy things are being thrown at them and they need Police escorts and protection in some cases. There's also cases of fanatical people who make loud noises outside of team hotels to make them wake up at odd hours of the night. What is the worst the Females have had to put up with during Qualifying? Empty stadiums and some people on the sidelines maybe yelling at them in a language they don't even understand most of the time? As John Stossel would say... .... Give me a break.
PC culture gone mad. How these women have the gall to ask for equal compensation relative to the men's team when they get battered by U-15 boys teams that have barely gone through puberty is astounding. Talk about entitled. How do you get beaten by 14 year old boys and then think you should be compensated the same as the men's national team? If the USMNT played the USWNT I wouldn't be surprised if the game ended up 30-0.
just like how isa woman's hockey team claimed sexism when there world championship can't even fill a 3000 seat arena
This is a useful point. The sport they dominate is a much smaller sport than the one our men are god-not-great in. So whenever they play the “we should get more money because we’re better” card, they needed to be reminded of this. But I’m guessing that’s a talking point intended to put public pressure on the Fed and keep up union morale. I doubt it’s intended to be a legal argument because it’s an OG...the Fed’s attorneys will just pivot to comparing their compensation to other WNTs rather than the USMNT. This is an incredibly stupid point again. It’s so stupid I’m not even going to explain why because you wouldn’t understand it. I’m sorry Chad stole your girlfriend.
Serena Williams backs US women's football squad in battle for equality https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/47510450
Though IIRC, it was actually brought up in the lawsuit itself. h/t to Beau Dure and Miki Turner on twitter for that, btw.
Lots of these posts are beneath you. There's a lot of room for fair disagreement on this issue, and believing that female athletes shouldn't necessarily get paid the same as male athletes is not a beyond the pale opinion. It is perfectly mainstream.
Serena is a garbage human being, as shown by her disgraceful behavior undermining Naomi Osaka's victory in their match last year.
@superdave really needs a break from internet politics forums. As an occasional sinner of the realm myself, they are not good for anyone's mental health. They engender divisive, negative thinking that carries over into real life.
Thinking the WNT should get paid less is not beyond the pale. Hell, I agree! Saying they deserve less because a select team of local U17 boys can beat them, OTOH, is beyond the pale. Well, beyond the pale implies immorality, so maybe not that. But certainly it’s a point too stupid to be debated. So whenever I see such a stupid argument, I call it out as such. As for why I go for incel, two points. One, it’s a funny term and I seek to educate y’all. Second, using a greater level of testosterone to assert superiority is the kind of thinking that comes from the worst corners of MRA, PUA, and other reddit hellholes. It is the kind of thinking that uses braggadocio to cover up a raging impotence and self-hatred.
If THAT single incident causes you to call her a garbage human being, how do you feel about Clint Dempsey? He’s done tons of things worse than that. What about Jermaine Jones? It’s funny, but you condemning her just proves the point she made afterward, that female athletes are judged in a sexist way. Either that, or you must hate half the male pro athletes in the world. She acted badly in that case, no question. I wonder why you chose to go “garbage human being” for it? Having said that, Serena is as nuanced on this issue as all the incels posting here. Can’t wait for her Hot Take on Lebron’s salary vs. whoever the best player is in the WNBA.
Aren't you in your fifties? I'm fairly certain that many of the alleged "incels" in this thread get laid much more often than you, and by women who are actually still fertile. And you've just provided more evidence why Serena is garbage. Nearly every time she opens her mouths she says something stupid.
