Tonight the WNT plays the last WWCQ group game against Trinidad and Tobago at WakeMed at 7:30 pm EST. It'll be televised on FS2 and UDN. Its also the one-year anniversary of that dark day when the MNT played T&T and failed to qualify. I think this one will go differently. ;)

Since the US has already clinched a semifinal berth, I wonder what type of lineup Ellis will go with. Back to the first team to get them ready for the semifinals, or keep with the second team since we've already advanced? We'll see.

Actually the current schedule I see on Sling TV is that the match will be on FS1. The earlier match, Mexico vs Cuba will be on FS2.

I do not trust Fox at all to actually have the match available from the start so I plan on watching via the Fox Sports app.

This will be interesting but ultimately meaningless.
Interesting because this will be the first time in a long time the US faces a true bunker played by a team that has even a small measure of ability in a match with any meaning at all.
[Edit to cut out a BUNCH of misleading and incorrect information.]

The only meaningful match today will be Mexico vs Panama as it is for second place in the group.

Panama beat T&T 3-0 in their opening match.

    https://www.concacaf.com/en/world-cup-qualifying-women/game-detail/456370#tab_match=match-details

T&T is already eliminated from the next round because either Panama or Mexico is going to get a point (to 4 or 6) and T&T can only get 3 at most.

You are correct. That is what I get for relying on my old failing memory. I watched the match and remembered incorrectly. Don't get old or this might happen to you!

It does show something that I remembered that match as a big win for T&T.
I guess that somehow I put Panama in the same class as Cuba in the other group. I was wrong about that.
That makes the Mexico vs Panama match MUCH more interesting.

BTW: I am going to remove, if the board allows, most of my post above so it does not mislead anyone else. Needless to say I screwed up and I do not wish others to follow my flawed memory.

Check the Matchday Guide over on the USSoccer site, saying something about being able to watch the match on more Fox Channels/places or something. Way over my head.
Vvvvvvvvery quiet outside in Cary right now. Wish I could press the Weather Pause button for the next 9 hours. I'm most concerned about lightning delaying that 1st game for a ridiculous amount of time cuz the conditions will continue to deteriorate throughout the evening. I don't know if Micheal is close enough to call this a Hurricane Game.....probably not. However, as everyone on this Board knows it is an indisputable scientific fact that:
The Force of the USWNT > The Force of Mother Nature
6 hours 45 minutes to Heaven on Earth.

Does anyone know if the first 2 USWNT matches have been posted on Youtube yet?

I doubt if they will be, at least not legally. I do not think Fox would allow that as they own all rights to the matches and showing a few commercials, on the Fox sports app or the replays on FS1 or FS2, is their only chance to make up for the horrible ratings the other matches must have had. It cost money to produce the matches and the US matches are the only place where they can recoup some of their losses for showing this tournament.

I think she’ll probably play a mix of both. She doesn’t want to injure some of her key players, but she wants them ready to play in the semifinal as well.

Surprisingly there is no rain here at the moment even though the radar has large green and yellow blobs all over the area.
Might just get this one in before the deluge.

So Jamaica or Panama is in and the other has a shot to get in as well. That's so great in a tournament that is so boring at the top.

Been re-watching the gif of Bailey's pk save. It isn't the save which is good but not great but her reaction to it. She seems totally oblivious. Just walks back out and works the gum. Ice water.

Assuming Jamaica makes the semi, the US would have to lose consecutively to Jamaica, Panama and Argentina. If that happened the team should be disbanded and Ellis should be burned at the stake ;)

In my years of coaching GKs I have never see a keeper with her calm and ability at 17. Admittadly I have not coached at the highest level but I have coached a few at that age that went on to pretty high levels and she is the coolest calmest of her age I have seen by a pretty good margin.

Combine that calmness with her raw talent and, with the right opportunity, she could go very far in club soccer somewhere. I kind of expect her to go to Europe as they will probably pay more that the US for a raw talent.

Depending on how she is academically I think US college might be attractive to her but I think that would be a mistake as she can always go back to school but her soccer career is limited to just a short time.

It was a good save, but Bailey was clearly setting up a dive to her left. She was standing right of center and was bouncing slightly left before the Mexican player even set her plant leg.
It's not really that she moved early (that's normal for keepers) so much as inexperienced goalies often give up slightly more space on the side of goal they plan to dive towards. It's pretty clear what she was doing from the behind-the-goal cam.

Speaking of keepers, Forbes has definitely lost a few steps in the past 4 years, right?

*Edit: I guess that's not Forbes.

The commentators keep using the work "Unlucky" and I keep flashing to, "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think is does."

    Edit: US 1 T&T 0

T&T keeper must feel like she’s in a blender.

This is what a real bunker looks like. What the US faced with Mexico and Panama were not bunkers. This is giving the US trouble in that few of the chances are really good ones. The US needs to shoot quicker and more often and from distance. T&T is putting zero pressure on the ball outside 25 yards.

This is a really weird game, feels like they are just playing one half of the field.
