So excited for this! I think this is a good sign for if/when the US plays Italy & getting those games broadcast as well! Here's to hoping at least!
So all the USWNT has to do to get their matches televised is risk falling out of the WWC? Great incentive.
I was very surprised that the USSF did not find a way to get the US vs Mexico match on ESPN Classic since ESPN 2 and ESPN was taken. I would also be very surprised if both US vs Italy matches were not shown probably on ESPN classic.
No and that really bothered me. We can get a high number of absolutely meaningless friendlies on TV here, but here is a game that is literally the most important that a game can possibly be outside of the World Cup or Olympics, yet no TV coverage whatsoever in the United States. The CONCACAF live video feed was high quality, but my point stands. It needed to be on television - at least on FSC at the bare minimum if not one of the ESPN channels. I'm thinking the U.S.-Italy games (if we get there) would likely be ESPN Classic or something like that due to both taking place on college football-packed Saturdays.
It isn't just college football. The 2nd Italy game (were we to beat CR) is on Thanksgiving Saturday. That's a PACKED sports weekend. However, the game would theoretically be at Toyota Park. We know there is webcasting available from TP. If the game can't be televised and isn't webcast, I'll be pissed.

uswnt vs costa rica on tv thought this deserved a thread so that it's more easily seen. don't know if espn suddenly got religion or if this was planned all along, but tomorrow's all important match is on tv - espn2 (at 6 pm et), and on the internet at espn3. its also still on concacaf tv. maybe this was a perverse plan to get everyone to pay attention.
Are you sure? I saw the ad during last night's game between LA and Seattle, and don't remember them saying it was only in HD. Just checked ussoccer.com and they're also saying ESPN2 (no HD specified) in several different areas.

The game is not showing up on ESPN2 or ESPN2HD on Comcast here in my end of CA. Any suggestions? Yikes.
