Absolutely inexcusable if Horvath and Hamid both aren't on this squad. The #USMNT will travel abroad to face 3rd-ranked Portugal: https://t.co/3EkhGBUnp2 pic.twitter.com/noZp3Vw4Li— U.S. Soccer Men's National Team (@USMNT) October 16, 2017
I wish we would have booked Poland, but they got Uruguay/Mexico some time ago. Maybe the English or Spanish will entertain us. I def agree. The squad should be Howard, Horvath and Hamid.
No Howard. Howard should get precisely one more cap, and it should be next year after the World Cup (unless he's planning to retire from the game altogether after this season in which case it will need to be sooner than that, but should be at home in any event).
Be a nice sendoff to retire. Unless he's rather play a Jamaica at home and hopefully win on his final game. But if not, then just Hamid/Horvath would be delightful.
Guzan was always ready for one blunder a game. I mean if Guzan is in goal for the Belgium game it ends 5-0.
yeah but he's talking about 2015. Howard took a break after that game and I recall Guzan was doing well late 2014/early 2015 for the NT. It was with AV that his form dropped.
I see a lot of folks mention him. But like Melia, does he stand a shot at getting a call-up much less any actual caps to compete?
He was called up for January camp. Got a knock in camp and sent home. Not sure what the next coach will do.
Howard can get a final friendly match at home, if even that. No way should he be part of the squad traveling to Portugal, at the expense of a Jesse Gonzalez or a Zack Steffen.
Ah you guys make sense. I didn't even consider a home send-off. Guzan will be busy with the play-offs so it should lead to Horvath being clear no.1 Hamid hasn't played in a few matches, so I hope that doesn't count against his inclusion.
The sad thing is if they have a sendoff game with Howard, Dempsey, Beasley and Zusi they are going to get booed. Maybe not during they sendoff announcement but when they take the field.
why would they boo Dempsey? I can't see Zusi getting anything. Not even a complimentary donut for Xmas
None of them deserve it. They lost that chance when they didn't qualify, IMO. Dempsey, Howard, Gonzalez, etc can all hit the road, don't waste another cap on any of them.
We knew this was coming, but it's confirmed: Bill Hamid will not return to D.C. United next season, won't say what is next. Story to come ... #dcu #mls #usmnt— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) October 18, 2017
