As a fan I think thats really the thing though. We don't see the camp. So when only 2 guys get the play and both kind of struggle or underperform, its like why not try someone new even if they struggle in practice. Maybe they play better in games, or maybe it was an off camp. More squad rotation at this phase in the cycle should be done, and thats at every position. But to name a few, Wooton is an option, Nova is an option, Sargent is an option, Soto could be brought in in the fall, then you drop down to prospect level De Le Fuente from what Ive seen plays better as a combo false 9, Haji Wright, Sabbi has played LW, RW and FW, personally I think Gall could play up top, and there others.
It was far from a "floated" ball. It had good pace and trajectory, not some loopy rain-maker. Any time an offensive player gets a solid head to a corner keeping it in play increases your chances of good things happening. Which was the case here with a follow-on goal.
Absolutely. It was Univision until 2013. There was no English language broadcast on network television.
I didn't say "loopy rainmaker". It sure as hell wasn't a driven cross with curve. Hence, floated. Obviously Miazga on the back post was targeted. He got up and got it, heading it back into the danger area. That's all planned, fine. The cross was the least impressive part of that play...
And that 2013 broadcast featured none other than Gus Johnson. /I seriously wanted him to work out as a soccer announcer. He just didn't have enough understanding of the sport.
It worries me that Gonzo is still in the picture. Guess when Brooks is healthy he'll be gone, but JAB's brain farts are not any better than Gonzo's. At least he can come out playing from the back.
He played the part of a bencher, that's for sure. And this game, he played like he should be glued there till Pomykal takes his spot ASAP. I mean, he got beat out by Holmes for sure, and he was lucky Mihailovic was so awful that Roldan was better by comparison.
I get it and thanks for responding, but I trust you realize how steep the drop off is in that group... We are having major difficulties at the forward position.
Well, that's more important. The 2's are mostly for SURE 2s. Next will be if CCV, Holmes, Robinson, etc. can force the issue and take their spots.
Sure as hell closer to a driven cross than a floated one. Impressive enough to lead to a rare score off a corner kick.
...Not really, but that's par for the course for you. I argued that CCV and many other players left out of the squad were "1s". I was wrong about Lovitz being better than Ream, but I made it clear that I disliked both. This game solidified the reality that the "2s" are trash, opening the door for the European based guys to take their spots. Only Cannon, Miazga, and Altidore played well. Soon, we won't see the other 7 field players stink up a roster unless they drastically improve.
Won all three games scoring 11 and giving up none. Can't really ask for much more in Group play. As for the knockouts: We are relatively healthy and in the easier bracket. We play a team that has never been on this sort of stage before in the next round and Panama-Jamaica will beat up on each other after that. I like our chances to make it to the Final here in Chicago. Still not sure if this team can beat Mexico but they are not a shoo-in to make it either.
Do you really need this explained? You didn't know that last night was a total rotation in order to rest the starters?
