Yes, very much so. And incidentally, that's not a bad way to approach this particular game, where the pitch is choppy and the team we're facing is mediocre skill-wise, but presents a significant athletic match-up challenge.
Unfortunately, yes. (I certainly wouldn't discourage a player from using yoga or any other beneficial regimen to his advantage, but it's the last thing I want to see them doing. But hey, that's just me...)
Brad Friedel thanks Yoga for his ability to stay in the game. He states it has helped him immensly more than anything, on how he's still able to play.
I find yoga (the whole mind/body) to be bullshit, but since I am basically adult ADHD. The benefits of stretching and flexibility training from the yoga stances are very good and I frequently do them after a match or long bike ride.
My statement isn't the least bit "anti-yoga," and it wouldn't surprise me at all if it's been part of Friedel's longevity secret. It's "anti-watching male soccer players practicing yoga." Or at very least, male soccer players that I want to root for and not snicker at.
Also...did Beckerman actually say something to the effect of... "when you have speed you can go fast"?
It's very zen, dude. Recognizing the simple truths like that is why Klinsi likes Beckerman anchoring his midfield >insert smiley of your choice here<
(And my streak of never successfully figuring out Jürgen's first XI, or even really 8 out of 11 continues.)
The starting XI: Howard (c); Parkhurst, Goodson, Cameron, Johnson; Jones, Beckerman, Edu, Dempsey; Altidore, Gomez
Doesn't mean anything, the jerseys are there in numerical order. PS: Parkhurst and Jones on the right means all the attacking will be done through the left.
I gave up a while back trying to figure out Jk's lineups. I'm very surprise BOCA is not in the starting 11. Looks to me if we are down that we may see BOCA as a sub for the LB position and Johnson moving to the midfield for someone.
------------------------Howard----------------------- -Parkhurst------Goodson---Cameron---Johnson-- -----------------Beckerman----Edu----------------- --Gomez---------------Jones-------------Dempsey- -----------------------Altidore------------------------ Actually, more attacking minded than I expected. Both Dempsey and Gomez generally prefer to start on the left and cut inside to their stronger right foot. I'm putting Deuce on the left cause he's the maestro but I expect they'll swap periodically. What does Jamaica have coming down the left wing? I'm guessing that's not a strength since Klinsi's saving Dolo.
Parkhurst is a safer choice than Dolo, IMO. He'll provide less going forward. I expect more a: ------------defense------------- ------JJ------KB----ME------- -------------Deuce------------- --------Jozy------Herc--------- but we'll see.
Normally it's Shelton, a fast guy who can be lethal in counters. I guess Klinsie is telling Parkhurst to stay home to control him.
