I'm going to keep asking about restarting the podcast. This is not about the FO but about the other fans that really don't have anywhere to turn for insight on the team.
She's really unbelievably bad. I cannot understand how anybody thought she should be doing this stuff. The last broadcast added that British guy--Hull?--to the mix. A guy who admitted over and over again that he hasn't been following the club or the league AT ALL. What the hell is going on there? Johnson and McTavish deserve better than to have to humor those other two. Damn it.
It was very weird to have the sideline reporter offer her very slanted analysis of the match...6 or so times throughout the match...
Indeed. Between that and having that Hull guy constantly quizzing Johnson and McTavish faux-authoritatively about a team he knows nothing about made for a very disjointed broadcast experience.
I like Hull actually, I like his enthusiasm and he seems to know quite a lot about the club. It was interesting that Hull came out to the tailgate with Dave instead of Devon. I was kind of surprised to see Devon was there when I watched the replay. 3 in the booth is hard to pull off though - heck sometimes 2 in the booth seems like it's pretty hard for some guys edit: ooops, I figured I was replying to something in the TV affiliate thread, not the UnitedMania one
OWFSS is back regularly and enjoyable. But they are journalists, and in spite of Thomas Floyd's impressive ability to connect almost any player to the Rochester Rhinos (six degrees of Rochester Rhinos is surprisingly compelling listening), they don't have that long term fan perspective that United Mania had. Their furthest reach back into United history is something like a Louis Crayton reference...
I suspect they'll maintain the venerable DC United podcast tradition of going regularly just long enough to make you think they have their act together ... and then dropping the ball for a few months before maybe, kind'a picking things back up again.
That's OK, MLS has got you covered: http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2016/09/03/guide-mls-podcasts-updated Scroll down to the DC United section and you'll even get to see the one and only time MLS soccer has ever even acknowledged us. Nice of them to rub it in I'm thinking.
No one listens to the filibuster because it stinks. They had a list of top 5 all time DC United podcasts by the way and didn't mention you (and listed themselves as the #1 best one ever)
Men without personalities bore you while droning sanctimoniously about DC United. I remember that. What trash.
http://www.blackandredunited.com/dc...c-united-soccer-podcasts-top-5-MLS-filibuster No clue who the author of this piece is, but Adam - one of the regulars on their Filibuster podcast - gives props to United Mania in the comments. Speaking of which, how is that DCU playoff race special return episode of United Mania coming along?
Yes, how is that going? What if I start one of those stupid internet petitions? Those are effective, right? If I get enough signatures then you'll HAVE to do a playoff podcast, yeah? Or maybe the White House has to give an update about it? I'm unclear on how activism works. But if that doesn't do the trick, I'll try picketing the Supreme Court.
Great idea. What's the over/under on how many respondents would be necessary to force United Mania back for one last triumphant podcast to quell the public outcry? I'm guessing something in the low double digits.
WE MUST HAVE A PLAYOFF PODCAST; that is, if we make the playoffs. It is up to Marco 10 to make this happen. And, it must happen if we make the playoffs. He must overcome his feelings about the Evil Princess of the Overlords and come to the understanding that the serfs need a champion - a modern day Wat Tyler as it were. If Marco 10 makes this happen, I will buy a season ticket for the 2017 season after letting my season ticket lapse this year.
You do know that Wat Tyler was beheaded by the Overlords? I know Mike oftimes went far afield on the podcasts, but decapitation seems a tad extreme.
It's coming up on 2017. Time to make a fresh start and get the podcast up and running in some form. Guys I'm starting to disconnect from United. The crap with the front office, the treatment of FTE ST holders, the indifferent service and the crap design for the stadium. It's not looking good as United drops further and further into mediocrity and irrelevance. Mike, say something positive.
