I really want a win over Colorado.... I'll be okay with a tie against Houston... 4 overall though I'll be happy. Two ties or god forbid two losses is going to send me back to Nexus-Land.
The Houston game depends in large part upon the lineups. If Houston trots out a B lineup with the expectation of being competitive in Atlanta on Saturday, the Union should be able to get a win or draw. If Houston plays an A lineup with the Union resting starters, it might go the other way. Knowing Curtin, I expect the Union to start most of the regulars on Wednesday night. With the heat and the travel for Houston, I would expect a B lineup for Houston.
I swear this team conspires against me being able to make it to the home matches. I literally have 1 thing on my evening agenda this week and it's an important event for my kids at their school...Wednesday night.
I'm quite intrigued with how Jim Curtin handles squad rotation this week, because for some reason I expect him to kill all of our momentum. But Houston is travelling across half the country for a midweek game, which is a recipe for disaster for them if we can stay hot. And Colorado is Colorado, coming off Chicago midweek. Might be an ugly game, but a perfect opportunity for some rotation.
Doubtful there will be squad rotation. WCQ break, and Gold Cup Breaks are coming up. No need to rest players this early in the season. Besides, it's not like this team will make the playoffs, so why worry about resting players for a playoff run right?
The term 'squad-rotation,' I think that’s the new buzz word and I think it starts in Europe where they have, we’ll just say, a lot more financial resources at their expense to build incredibly deep rosters. (laughs) It’s not as easy to rotate in our league, just because of the salary cap preventions. We do think we have a deep team; we’ll put the team that’s most fit and ready to go out there. We’re not…I don’t use the word 'rest', we’re not resting anybody. You can’t rest guys in game 12 or 13 of the season. So, we have some decisions to make. I think our fitness and our work has been put in. I don’t expect to see 10 new bodies out there and we’re just going to be fine. We have a good thing going on right now, we have guys believing, we have guys that physically feel good, and feel strong."
The NYCFC game has been pushed up to 1pm. It seems some of their fans complained they want to be able to watch the Champions League game. Wtf? That shouldn't be either teams concern. 864138306828865538 is not a valid tweet id
I thought it was because the Yankees bitched that the field wouldn't be ready in time for their next home stand?
Chicago win last night not ideal, but a win Saturday paired with a Red Bulls loss to TFC could put us in the six spot... lolwtf?!
Just seeing this now, and good. It was idiotic to have moved it into conflict with the CL final. It's a huge event.
Except now many of us will be missing the CL game anyway driving home from the MLS game. At a minimum, NYCFC fans will miss the first half of the CL game because it starts at 2:45. I still think this is about TV, not fans. Whatever network the MLS game is on in NY likely complained about going head to head with the CL final.
Results around the league were decent... Union win streak puts them a point out of the playoffs behind Red Bull who has played one more game. Wish list for this week: Thursday Dallas over Chicago Friday Toronto over Columbus Saturday Vancouver over DCU Revs tie Red Bull Minnesota over Orlando Sunday Atlanta and NYCFC tie and Union getting 3 from Salt Lake on the road. Fan Fiction Table would have the Union in 5th place: TFC: 29 Fire: 21 NYCFC: 21 Orlando: 20 ZOLOS: 19 Crew: 19 --------------------------- RBNY: 18 Revs: 17 ATL: 16 Impact: 13 DCU: 11
MLS Play resumes July 19th. Best case scenario for the Union for that week of play: Win Wed @ Montreal Win Sat @Columbus Wed TFC over NYC Quakes over RBNY Sounders over DC Fri ATL over Orlando Sat Fire over NYC Rapids over TFC Galaxy over NER Dallas over Impact Minnesota over RBNY Dynamo over DCU Day Dream table would be at: CHI - 41 TFC - 41 NYC - 33 ATL - 33 UNION - 29 ORL - 29 --------------------------------- CLB - 28 RBNY - 26 MTL - 21 NER - 20 DCU - 18
https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2017...share_button&utm_campaign=social_share_button How Lovely: The Philadelphia Union have enjoyed a surge over their last 10 games, going 6-3-1 and moving closer to playoff positioning. Unfortunately for them, they also have the toughest remaining schedule in MLS. They have to travel to Toronto, Chicago and Atlanta, who have a combined record of 22-2-3 at home this season. They will also play home games against teams who have been good on the road, including Atlanta, Dallas and Chicago.
Why do I feel like they end up on the short end of scheduling every year? Oh well. At least they have another excuse.
