It's actually kind of sharp & clean looking. I'm sure they'll pair it with white shorts though........................with dark blue shorts it would make a really nice look.
It's OK, I hope they don't go completely away from the stripe. I was never a fan of the gold but the stripe was sorta the Union's thing...call me old fashioned.
Now that I've been able to get a clear look at the balloon knot pattern of the blue on the front I change my mind and hate, hate, hate it.
It's like a sunburst pattern. I don't really understand what it has to do with anything Philly but whatever. It's not great it's not awful it just is
Didn't watch the release video yet. Did they mention how this was inspired by the fans? I'm still trying to figure that one out.
Just like the attendence numbers...there really isn't much there. Except for rows of empty seats. Represented by horizontal blue lines that fade away at the end. Like our attention spans as yet another hopeless season ends. They really put a lot of thought into these kits.
I think it’s a reference to the fans voting on those logos for the back of the jersey. Other then that they picked a white shirt from the clearance rack at Adidas.
Equipment guy tweets out that there's the option to wear navy shorts with the new white shirt. Emphasis mine. I'll set the over-under at 2 1/2 for the number of games with the white top/dark bottom combo.
Just wait until the first match where there is confusion and we get a bunch of guys wearing different colored shorts coming out of the tunnel.
Yeah, I was thinking about it yesterday, and the clash rules may make it hard and a lot of times they could always just wear the primary instead of white if they wanted to. Navy shorts I’m guessing would not be allowed if the team has black shorts or another “dark” color... then there’s the question of does the white top work as a clash with colors like Gray or Yellow... (my gut says yes, but who knows, they may just decide to wear the primaries there.) If I was gonna guess these are the away games you’d be most likely to see the navy shorts/white top combo: Chicago Minnesota Columbus Toronto Salt Lake (if wearing red shorts) Maybe SKC depending on what their new primary uniforms look like...(do they still have white shorts?) Maybe Red Bull if they wear all Red at Home. Maybe Cincy If the don’t have blue shorts.
Not sure how many people are fans of the long sleeved jerseys, but a lot of team stores are confirming that they are no longer going to be used in the league, nor will they be sold in stores. Kind of stinks. I always liked having a long sleeved option. Long-sleeve jerseys are no longer being made by adidas and will not be worn on-field or available for purchase.— RBNY Member Services (@RBNYHelp) February 6, 2019
I picked up one of these at the kit release. For all of you who are a bit bigger than the average guy, the authentic jerseys are a bit looser fitting than previous years. At 6' 3" and 255 lbs. I generally wear a 2XL. Usually, I need to go a size up to get a looser fit, but this one is a good fit! #IDontWantToLookLikeASausage
In one of the latest KYW Philly Soccer Show podcasts, Greg interviews Doug Vosik, Senior VP of Marketing & Communications, discussing mainly the new jerseys. So much of what the league is forced to do is based upon adidas' global strategy for the season ... some kind of digital something-or-other is the theme right now. I get that adidas dumps a ton of money into the league, and as long as it's single-entity I don't see the teams being permitted to solicit jersey manufacturers on their own. They spoke about the city blue and/or gold/nudes as being relevant to the city and team's history. Doug rebuts with a comment about white being part of the Union's history as well. There was mention about Bimbo's subsidiaries possibly being shirt sponsors, but I'm so skeptical.
I laughed when he talked about our boring white jerseys every year being part of the identity. He did seem to confirm they definitely would not go white next cycle.
I don’t think single enitity prevents the league from allowing teams to sign with what ever jersey provider they want. Teams had that freedom prior to ‘04. It’s just the leagues FO and team owners know they can make more money with a league wide provider.
I've seen the preseason pics of players with a plain white Bimbo logo on dark blue jerseys. Is that how the official home jersey will look this year, or is it just a training kit? Much better look than the Bimbo bumper sticker.
