I was hoping they would unveil the new uni's at a practical time, like opening day for instance.

    ---------------------------------
Assuming Beckham does make his debut on July 21, that is also likely the night the Galaxy play in new uniforms that will be unveiled next month.

"Once we get that new jersey and we get David and we have an opportunity to introduce it the right way,'' Leiweke said, "I think we're in agreement that this tournament is a great time to introduce the new kit.''

Has any team ever in the history of sports changed their uniform and colours midway through the season?

    Probably not.

Is this an act befitting of a club that's attempting to push its way into the pantheon of "global" football brands?

    Absolutely not.

Changing the kit upon the arrival of one player makes it looks like the Galaxy are joining David Beckham. The opposite should be the case.

You should be playing this cool, Tim.

The prom queen is going home with you.

This promises to be the greatest night of your life.

But at this rate you'll be passed out before you get to the hotel.

And she'll end up sleeping with your best friend.

And they'll go on to live happily ever after.

While you think of what might have been.

As you sit alone in an empty bar.

    With teardrops gently falling.

And splashing upon your giant clown shoes.

changing mid-way through the season is a branding disaster. i can guarantee that whomever is handling the brand change for the galaxy is absolutely livid right now.

    big, big mistake.

Why the hell would they unveil the uniforms next month and not wear them until July?

    What a disaster.

It's a business decision and they could care less what us fans think.

I for one will stick to my green and gold kit for a while.

Let the beckham-bimbos buy the new uni.

    Yes. You did.

Go to the LAG web site for full description of the tournament LAG is hosting in July.

Because next month April 7th adidas will unveil their new web site with all the 2007 teams kits, so the Galaxy is forced to unveil next month.

Unveiling new kits and not using them until Beckham arrives seems a bit odd. The first game in the new blue or black kits and all the Galaxy's supporters will be in green and gold, that should look really great on world wide t.v. You fan should protest that call...

    Same.

But I think it'll be pretty obvious that someone was a fan pre-Becks if they get a new jersey with someone like Cobi or Albright's name on the back.

At the risk of pissing off Pete Vagenas, I really hope they dont make the change just for when Becks arrives.

it would be a good idea then to pass out the new Galaxy jerseys (simple replicas of course) to the first 10,000 who show up for David's first game. Then it wouldnt be so embarrasing for the Galaxy to have their supporters n total opposite colors of the team on the field. I think the world will roll their eyes and go back to thinking that MLS is the same joke as before. But, from what I read here about the management, there is no way they are that smart and/or charitable enough to think of this.

Charitable being the key word there - the retail value of 10,000 jerseys is about $700,000. There is absolutely no way that would ever happen, as much as it would make me sleep in the HDC parking lot overnight on line to get in...

Cobi, I think "simple replica's" was the key wording... In bulk the LAGs could easily make 10,000 shirts for $20k and THAT builds teams support and loyalty. The $20k would be made up over time no prob.

Now, imagine if everyone at the game got a replica shirt... those fans would all be going home telling their buddies, co-workers, girlfriends, etc about the game, about the free stuff. That advertisement alone is worthwhile.

It would be more like T-shirts...like the shirts given out at that chivas match..."goat busters" or something like that.

Are we sure he wasn't talking about the previously mentioned 3rd (International Competition) jersey?

What we REALLY need is Andrew Shue to make some sort of guest appearance with the jerseys. Do you realize how many 20 year old gals would come out of the closet?
