Snip: This was his second consecutive year training with Stevenage, which offered him a contract last year. But Byrne opted to return home and will see what will happen this summer."My first choice is to sign this summer and play in England for my senior year," said the 6-foot-4 Byrne, who turns 17 in July. "If West Ham offered me a contract this upcoming summer, I would definitely be gone. If not, after high school. It's still the dream, but I'll have a lot of options this summer. I've been keeping up with colleges if I decide to stay here." http://articles.sun-sentinel.com/20...1-20130501_1_soccer-team-stevenage-youth-club His coach is Ian Bishop: http://fcflorida.org/KevinByrne It seems he is a '96: http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/club-soccer-articles/1996-odp-interregional-roster-schedule_aid23682 Also, the first article says: Byrne went overseas to train with Travis Gonzelez, captain of the King's Academy team, Niko Hamalainen, who was his teammate early on with the Royal Palm Beach Strikers, and Christian Lue Young from Cardinal Gibbons in Fort Lauderdale. But it doesn't say anything about possible next steps for the other two guys. Some background in an older article, which says he had hoped to join the residency program: http://articles.sun-sentinel.com/20...5_1_odp-soccer-manchester-city-national-crown And a video.
After watching that video I have to say the competition he's up against there is so sub-par its impossible to judge his qualities. Example...fast forward to 27 seconds in the video for big laughs. Oh and lol at the completely unnecessary no-look passes. Anyway, hope things go well for him.
Surely Tony Pulis is aware of this kid. A 6'4" holding mid who's highlight video consists mainly of long throw ins?
He ended up at Fairfield U. after playing a season at Florida Atlantic. But it's not clear to me whether he finished up there, went pro, transferred again, stopped playing collegiately, etc., because he wasn't on their 2017 roster, which would've been his senior year. He seems to have played for Boca Raton FC of the NPSL this past summer.
