Hooliganism in football will never be avoided, but it's always a shame when it happens.

This has to be distinguished from "normal" hooliganism.

It is an example of the sectarianism that seems to be prominent in Scotland. The apparent motive for the attack is simply that Lennon is a prominent Catholic.

Both actually. It's a damn shame when politics and sport are mixed.

Oh shite! what am I talking about? FIFA is Political and involved in Sport. Maybe we should call those Hooligans and have them kick FIFA in the balls.....Just a thought.

Im not condoning this because it is indefensible, but they didnt see lennon and go "oh there is that well known prominent catholic neil lennon, lets go and secterianly abuse him"
its cos he plays for celtic
if archbishop desmond tutu had pulled up at the lights nothing would have been said.

He could always play in MLS in the States. Not as much of a problem with that sort of stuff.

If you can give us at least 2 million pounds by way of a transfer fee and give him 30 thousand pound a week in wages you would be more than welcome to him in this bhoys opinion.

Not to devalue your point, but I like the reference to the other Lennon.
