Update at U-17 level Group 1 Qualified: England Group 2 Qualified: Netherlands Group 3 Qualified: Spain (holders) Group 4 Qualified: Germany Group 5: Qualified: Portugal Group 6 Qualified: Denmark Group 7 Will play for finals spot on Saturday: Belgium, Austria France failure to qualify again for the finals is certainly leaving some question opened about the youth system...
Poland's a little out of luck on this level lately. Last year they had Spain in Championship group phase and this time in qualifying Elite round. In my opinion young Poles would've advanced from any other group beside German perhaps. Poland has good number of some very good players born in years 2001-2003. Notice for the future especially CM Achcińska, FW Kozak and LW Tomasiak.
The U-19 Elite Round start tomorrow : All 7 groups games are played on the same days with all group winners through to the finals in Scotland.

Matchday 1 Portugal ahead in Group A Germany in Group B with the Netherlands just behind. Results Group A Portugal 3 - Bulgaria 1 Spain 0 - Danemark 0 Group B Germany 4- England 0 Netherlands 4 - Austria 1
Group A Spain 3 Bulgaria 0 Portugal 1 Denmark 0 Portugal are through to the semi-finals, Bulgaria are out. Group B Netherlands 3 Germany 2
England 2 Austria 1 We now have 1. Netherlands 6 points 7-3 2. Germany 3 points 6-3 3. England 3 points 2-5 Next Germany v Austria and England v Netherlands, we might end up with a funny situation with three teams with 6 points or three teams with 3 points. 17.01 If two or more teams in the same group are equal on points on completion of the group matches, the following criteria are applied, in the order given, to determine the rankings: a. higher number of points obtained in the group matches played among the teams in question; b. superior goal difference from the group matches played among the teams in question; c. higher number of goals scored in the group matches played among the teams in question; d. if, after having applied criteria a) to c), teams still have an equal ranking, criteria a) to c) are reapplied exclusively to the group matches between the remaining teams to determine their final rankings. If this procedure does not lead to a decision, criteria e) to i) apply in the order given to the two or more teams still equal ;e. superior goal difference in all group matches;f. higher number of goals scored in all group matches ;g. lower disciplinary points total based only on yellow and red cards received inall group matches (red card = 3 points, yellow card = 1 point, expulsion fortwo yellow cards in one match = 3 points); h. higher position in the qualifying round coefficient ranking list; i. drawing of lots.
And indeed Group B ended with three teams on six points: Germany, Netherlands and England. England missed out by one goal. They will regret their 0-4 defeat to Germany on matchday one. Group A Spain and Portugal through, Group B Germany and Netherlands. Semi-final Germany v Portugal and Spain v Netherlands. Both semi-finals and final shown on tv.
Germany 2 Portugal 0 Spain 1 Netherlands 3 ! The final will be a remake of the group stage game Netherlands v Germany.
U17: Germany beats The Netherlands on penalties to win the title. Score was 1-1 after regulation, and then Germany won it 3-2 on penalties, after there were 7 straight misses (or saves) by the keeper. The Dutch missed four straight, which is terrible and cost them the title. Here's what crazy: Gemany has now won 5 straight U17 titles on penalties. So we can certainly say that is their strength. I think they've won this title 7 times now--or it might even be 7 straight, I can't remember. They've dominated--at least when it comes to shootouts. Sorry The Netherlands could win their first U17 title. Troop seems a player to watch--she wins the golden boot.
