Well, after many unlucky tries, Ewa Pajor tried... harder (haha ) and finally scored with an header. 2-0 Wolfsburg and game over. Chelsea should now score 5 in the last 10 minutes to advance. Easy, isn't it?
Great save from Schult denying Cuthbert and Chelsea a consolation goal. There was a deflection by a Wolfsburg's DF, so it was not an easy save.
Not sure who said that (@hotjam2 ?) few weeks ago but I agree - Bright and Mjalde must go if Chelsea really thinks about CL in next season... ..also Bachmann anf Thorisdottir as bench options, not starters
Well, Final Time Wolfsburg 2 Chelsea 0. It looks like the only way to reach the final for England would have been pairing the two home teams together. And now Kiev will host a final match that's already a classic of women's football: Olympique Lyonnais-VfL Wolfsburg. What do you say, guys: will it end like in Reggio Emilia in 2016 and OL will add the 3rd consecutive Champions' League to their collection or this time Wolfies have a real chance to make it?
It's gonna be much closer affair this time around I hope, still the question: what is Wolfsburg plan to stop Majri and Le Sommer on flanks...? On the other hand moving Popp into deeper role to counter Henry and Kumagai may prove vital in first half...
Well, how much closer can exactly be than in 2016? 1-1 after regular time and extra time and one of the more thrilling penalty shootouts ever!
since Pajor's been made the center/fwd, I think it will come down to if lil Ewa can get past Wendie Renard.. In the states we call this the irresistible force meets the unmovable object!
I have seen some players with that style at u17 u19 level in the last 4 years, why they have not made it to the senior team is a good question.
I don't think I've seen an 18/19 thread start yet, so apologies if I've missed it, but just saw this on Twitter: 994162265585799168 is not a valid tweet id The article/Tweet was made a little preemptively perhaps, as managements seems to be half-walking back the decision, but not fully (more a "decisions have yet to be made" thing instead of "we're not cutting the team"). But with Milwall in England also starting down the threat of shuttering, it's certainly a reminder of the reality of WoSo economics.
before he became an assistant, then head coach of the current world champs, Joachim Low coached an men's club that won the Austrian League. only to see the club file for bankruptcy by next season)so it does happen to either gender) I would say however if there's such a thing as a separate woso & broso fan, than it seems that the average woso fan has little empathy in anything else outside their special interest/world. That's big difference, especially in the states where if the men's Arsenal vs Chelsea played an exhibition. it would sell out in minutes, where as two equally talented women's dies of those same clubs might come over, & nobody would go/ Even when Arsenal came to play the Seattle Reign, it didn't even spike the attendance of an average NWSL club/opponent Its pretty much the same vice versa(for example, Euro fans not interested in other countries/regions). So a bit of the blame got to go to woso fans
It's a shame that I am probably going to miss the final (or at least most of it) because of some work commitments in the late afternoon of this thursday. The game should start at 18:00 for an Italian viewer, shouldn't it?
[Wolfsburg-Lyon] 093' 1-0 Harder collects at midfield box left, roams centerward in a loose 3-v-4 as Lyon's backline all backpedal. Harder gets cut off at 27m center, turns 270° cw, shoots left foot hard from 25m arc left. Ball hits Renard in the right hip?? and deflects just inside left post low, past Bouhaddi's dive. 095' 1-0 Lyon subs in #19 Shanice van de Sanden for #5 Saki Kumagai. 095' 1-0 Cascarino passes ball away at own circle back left touch. Then Popp slides in from off-screen and plows through Cascarino's legs. Foul, 2nd yellow = red card on Popp. Wolfsburg already used all 3 subs, they must finish with 10.
