What about only going to Lisbon?...

Alot of portuguese can't afford a trip to France and beyond. Sure we have alot of immigrants but that shouldn't be a considering factor.

I guess I don't see the travelling support as a big issue since we are talking about NT football, not club football. People are used to watching their national team on TV anyway.

a playoff has to be played twice, it's a two-game series, and i will remove the away goal......

id like France to qualify. They beat brazil. Hiddink only loses finals and semis, so they qualify

He also loses against giants like Israel in key qualifying matches. Lets stop pretending he's invincible...

Every single one of the UEFA qualifying results have been the reverse of what I'd actually have liked.

So we got to see a sensation (congrats to Slovenia) and surprise (congrats to Hellas) tonight. Portugal's easy 1:0 away win in Bosnia (kudos) wasn't really expected either...

Ireland was close to a surprise as well ... if there wasn't the cheater Henry (I'd be ashamed right now if I was him) and a blind referee/linesman.

Hiddink's Russia will be missed, but can't say the best didn't win. Slovenia deserved it, and good for them.

    no more playoff

how many europeans teams will be competing on the next WCQ? 53 RIGHT?

i guess that uefa should get 12 teams for the next tournament

and out of the 53, the 10 lower teams should playoff a first playoff....

so im taking about kasakstan, lietchteistein, malta, estonia, luxemburg, andorra, san marino, faroe islands, azerbaijan, armenia

so the best 5 will advance and join the remaining 43 teams and will be 48 teams

then we will have 6 groups of 8 teams each. that will mean a total number of 14 games per group.....

the best two will advance directly to the WC

Thank you Sepp. Try that and FIFA will be having a "world cup" sans Europe.

Yeah, if there's a change I think it will be in the other direction, namely, UEFA will get 14 spots in 2014. Usually the 32nd spot goes to the host continent, but I don't see C'BOL getting 5.5 spots. So instead I expect that 32nd spot to go to UEFA or perhaps 13.5 for UEFA and 5.0 for C'BOL.

So you can't see South America getting 5.5 but here we have 6 African teams.

I will bet you qualifying remains the exact same. In 4 years everyone will be up in arms that FIFA seeds the playoffs and site how unfair it is since they announce it a month before the games. Despite it happening for the 3rd straight year.

The difference is, Brasil (the 2014 hosts) always qualifies anyway. OTOH, South Africa would never have qualified for 2010 so they are using-up an extra place.
