Im not sure anyone fully understands how this works or the benefits of it.. even after reading some of the articles trying to explain it, it hasnt helped. lol.

Fernando Santos, Portugal coach It is a difficult draw. We faced Poland in the quarter-finals of the last EURO and we know they have great players. And Italy are a team no one ever wants to get. Even more so now they are out of the World Cup and will be giving everything to make amends in this competition. The one thing we can promise is that we will play with determination and we will try to win every match, as always. One of the positives with this competition is more games between teams of a similar standard. Some countries knew they would always struggle to get to a World Cup or a EURO, and they will now have another reason to invest in grassroots development and, of course, all European football will benefit from that.
Yeah, it's pretty confusing. At first I thought it replaced Euro qualifying, but it doesn't, which is all I really care about. There will still be the normal Euro qualifying process, but the final few Euro 2020 spots will be secured straight from a Nations League playoff.
what this is doing is replacing the friendly games and giving the big guns another chance of qualifying if they have fvked up in the normal Euro qualifying groups
I kinda like it...but if we go to the finals, or even if we don't I think this now confirms we will not be invited and/or go to the Copa America. Would have been amazing to screw Messi out of that one.
We got the 2nd most favorable group in League A. Portugal & Italy finally meet in a competition. Portugal are the new kings of the 1-0, but who will the 1-0 go to here? It's the current kings of the 1-0 vs the former kings of the 1-0.
I like the trophy. They should have named it after someone though. The anthem went for Epic...sounds like Satan is coming at 49 seconds

Welp on to the next one. let's start fresh and ride out Cristiano, Quaresma and Pepe and see if we can find one or three new CBs in the process --------------------Ronaldo- Bruma------Bernardo----Rony------Guedes ---------------------Neves Guerreiro------Pepe--Dias--------Semedo -----------------------Patricio Lopes Beto Quaresma Joao Mario Adrien Silva Danilo Andre Silva William Cancelo CB? CB? Gelson I hope Wolverhampton goes on a tear over the next few years but relegation is also a possibility for them. We will see how the Lobos do.
Every two years is better than every four, and maybe more games will be televised here. Soccer has way too many cups though. Cheapens the sport.
Why are peeps overlooking Carrico at CB? I really like him. Dumb FS! Agree, WH are our little farm team. Never is their anchor, and jota looks promising.
We should succeed in the group we are in. Poland has quickly fallen off and may be closer to a B league team st this point and Italy is still a bit of out sorts.
There is no reason why Portugal can not come out of this tournament as the winners.. Group A: Germany - will be phasing players out, incorporating new players and possibly line ups/strategies into the team.. they can be vulnerable as this will be their first competitive matches since their embarrassing WC exit. France - will be on a high with little to prove, likely not even looking to be that competitive Nethlands - will be interesting, doesnt look like a while lot of star talent is coming through, though we did struggle with them in a friendly recently.. not sure how much stock i put into that.. Group B - We should be able to take any of the 3 teams in that group.. although they are all tough, we have demonstrated we can play with Belgium, beat the Swiss, and Iceland likely wont be someone to even worry about when considering the finals.. as i dont anticipate them being there.. Group D Spain - still experiencing a coaching turn over, who knows what sort of players will be available as i believe Pique has quit the NT, Iniesta the same, great young players, still inexperienced and didnt show much in the WC.. they can be had.. England - we own them.. over rated.. didnt impress me at all in the WC even though they advanced quite far.. Croatia - will be on an emotional let down i believe.. you just lost the WC.. will never likely get that chance again.. for them, who gives a ******** about the nations league..
Portugal, though not really a 'small' country in terms of soccer, we act like it.. we will play hard and try to win every trophy possible, Confederation cup being a prime example, where other teams are fielding 3rd string teams, we are fielding our strongest possible line up wanting to add trophies to the collection.. I think this is ours to win..
