Well i wouldn't say they created way more(i mean both teams had like 0 shots). They did look better(more hungry, more possession) and Portugal for most part were just defending(surprise surprise). One good counter and that was it. Kinda embarrassing that Portugal has to do that to win games but i guess at the end they don't ask how you win. I felt like i was watching Croatia vs Greece.
Huge underdogs? Everyone has been chastising because Portugal was in everyone's minds to win the group that they were in and they unperformed so therefore no excuses...... Iceland is a real underdog. Also Croatia didn't have half as much hype as Portugal did this year so all in all its just Portugal riding their luck until a bigger team knocks them out as always (Germany) I heard more of Rentao Sanches's name the entire match then i did Ronaldo's, i don't think he even got a shot on target... embarrassing af.
Besides the shot on target that led to the game-winning goal, I don't remember a shot on target either.
Halt he KO stages have been worse than the group stages, I thought it was supposed to pick up? I'm really hating the new format, they need to go back to 16 teams asap.
I liked the idea of an extended euro because it would mean us qualifying(but we didn't), disaster tournament so far, such horrible play. I assume UEFA is making ton of profit though which makes the euros a big success.
Sucks one side is loaded while on the other one of Poland, Portugal, Belgium or Wales will make the final.
meh, They took Portugal to extra time and were better than them. Had they scored on that great chance that went off the post we'd be having a different discussion right now. I was saying the same as you as Croatia really didn't impress at all in the last qualifying but they honestly surprised me quite a bit with their play in this tournament. As for Italy, i stand by what i said earlier about Spain being overrated with their style of play that just doesn't work as well with their best players aging(it's been like that for over a year now). Now if Italy beat their next team(Germany i guess?), then i'll be very impressed.
They should just give them a pass on to next round then. Those things(who won before) means absolutely zero. Germany is going to destroy them.
assuming England beat Iceland, their matchup against France would be interesting because of their history. Would be harlious if they exit Europe twice in one week though
