I would really like futsal to take off and replace indoor soccer. If nothing else it can be played on any basketball court making it much cheaper and available. Not quite just add water but just add two nets and go.
FCD's younger age groups play futsal...............right? Typing in FC Dallas and futsal gets ya tons of stories. They sponsor futsal tournaments and all sorts of events. Houston Dynamo versus FC Dallas futsal wars from this past winter!!! All sorts of highlight videos out there of FCD futsal players............
Didn't know that about DISD and that is great. Futsal could be the way to get inner city kids into the game and then let them be scouted by the MLS academies. Just another source of talent. I am hoping the Farmers Market complex will be full on evenings and weekends with kids playing schoolyard futsal and embracing the unstructured play we dont' have enough of in the US.
those were most likely from the DA futsal showcases US soccer does for the younger DA age groups. I don't think they train or play futsal on a regular basis, just do the showcase once a year. historically, the FCD DA teams ( at least at U14 and older) train 5 days a week outdoors and futsal is not a regular component.
Hearing Sebastian Soto scored both goals against NCFC in the 2-1 win.Starting XI: Garces :: Gloster : Stanley : Rogers : Perez :: Goslin : Ledezma : Pomykal :: Brewer : Dorsey : Rennicks #usynt— Joey (@USAprospects) July 18, 2018
There's not a team out there that can stop Soto from scoring. Doesn't even start and scores 2. I'm beginning to highly doubt that he's going to be at qualifying. For such reason (and please don't hurt me when I say this), I really think Ayo should be getting callups to the U20s. I was never the biggest fan of the kid either, but he's scored 4 goals for the worst pro team in America in 453 minutes. I'd much rather call him up and start him than Justin Rennicks. I've never seen Rennicks play, but Ayo's numbers speak for themselves.
Didn’t he just fly cross country after a trial too? Doubt he plays in U20 WC. Listening to that scuffed pod the replacements at the 9 are basically nil.
I enjoyed @zlebmada’s description: SOTO. Just drops in from who-knows-where, comes off the bench and bags a brace against a USL side. https://t.co/lLGnWR3pda— scuffed (@scuffedpod) July 18, 2018
I was going to make this point soon. Actually, both points, the one about Soto and the one about Akinola. Worst case scenario for qualifying forwards? Akinola, Perez, de la Fuente with Mines next up? Perez and de la Fuente aren't even CF's, but if we are going to consider Lindsey at LB, Sands at CB, and some combination of Ledezma/Mendez/Carleton/Pomykal out of position, we can consider these players at CF.
I think the assumption is that he'll be signing in Europe by the end of the transfer window. He turns 18 in ten days.
Bingo. That’s the assumption, anyway. That the team that signs him (maybe Gladbach) wouldn’t release him.
Will he signing with the first team (like a Sargent) or signing with the academy (like a Zyen Jones)?
I’m excited to find out what kind of impact he has once he has a pro contract. He scores everywhere he goes, and scores a lot. Can you imagine two 18 year old American strikers scoring in the Bundesliga
You sign either an amateur or professional contract. If you sign a professional contract the team decides if you play for the first team or academy.
Last season RSL-AZ boys had weekly mandatory futsal practices for each team and this season the two top AZ state leagues are adding futsal games into the league schedules. During the offseason most of my son's team played in a 6 game mini futsal league. I would imagine other states/clubs are doing the same things.
Not sure they are but they should be. I just keep hoping indoor transitions to futsal. There is a lot of history and infrastructure with indoor however so it won't be with out strong opposition.
