Sunday afternoon payoff for EPL on NBC: ManU-Arsenal drew 1.0 overnight rating, which is 2nd best ever for EPL match on NBC Sports and 2nd best for any live EPL match on U.S. TV— Austin Karp (@AustinKarp) March 11, 2019 PREMIER LEAGUE L: BRIGHTON/CRYSTAL PALACE NBC SPORTS NETWORK 7:24 AM 138 0.12 270k PREMIER LEAGUE L: TOTTENHAM/SOUTHAMPTON NBC SPORTS NETWORK 9:57 AM 136 0.17 421k PREMIER LEAGUE L: BURNLEY/LIVERPOOL NBC SPORTS NETWORK 7:56 AM 124 0.11 298k PREMIER LEAGUE L: WOLVES/CHELSEA NBC SPORTS NETWORK 10:00 AM 132 0.19 459k Haven't seen City-Watford NBC numbers yet.
Makes sense. Two of the most popular Premiere League teams battling for a top 5 position. And not to spoil anything but Man U was coming off an exciting game against PSG.
Yeah, I'd bet that Manchester United and Arsenal are still 1 and 2 in terms of US viewer identity/interest. 3. Liverpool 4. City 5. Chelsea 6. Spurs. But the gaps are getting a lot closer. #HotTakes

Not to spoil anything for people who still have not watched it but when Cristiano is on the world watches.
Also, TNT is building a very strong base audience for those stand alone 3pm/4pm knockout matches, largely regardless of teams involved. Over 400k for English language sporting event on a weekday is pretty good. Both matches beat a very high profile Barca-Chelsea match on FS1 last year: UCL ROUND OF 16 L: BARCELONA/CHELSEA FOX SPORTS 1 3:30 PM 150 0.15 394k And TNT has stiffer competition from Univision networks now in the same match windows.
All things considered, this isn't all that bad USA SOCCER MEN L: USA/ECUADOR ESPN2 8:00 PM 130 0.16 419k

Mexico - Chile: 835 k on Univisión Deportes Spain - Norway: 209 k on Univisión Deportes Netherlands - Germany: 184 k on Univisión Deportes Showbuzz Daily hasn't published ratings for English-language soccer bnroadcasts last weekend, so they were really low.

I think it helps that it was the first Mexican National team match under Dish's (Formerly known as Dish Network's) new agreement with Univision. The previous Mexican matches were not available on Dish at all.

I thought Arsenal vs. Everton would get a lot more than Crystal Palace vs. Newcastle, not just 17.2 percent more. Do a lot of people watch to see Yedlin?
That hour makes a big difference -- 5:58am Sunday program start time on the west coast. And so many soccer lovers are programmed to watch the Prem at 10am ET Saturday that the number on NBCSN is very consistent. I'm actually more surprised that Liverpool didn't get more of a Champs League afternoon number, like 300-400k for a big title race match. But I think those Friday kick-offs still sneak up on casual fans.
ESPN News and ESPN+ won't show up in ratings reports. The last match on ESPN2 didn't show up in the daily cable top 150. Lazio-Parma on ESPN2, March 17. Serie A is a nice league to boost the image of ESPN+ but it hasn't brought in a decent size American audience for years (if ever?). http://www.showbuzzdaily.com/articl...cable-originals-network-finals-3-17-2019.html

That's with the two clubs in or near New York City who were both good last year, along with the MLS club that went the farthest in the CCL.
