A's away -vs- rival Liverpool Warriors this weekend - hyped. Any new players on the Athletics roster to keep an eye on this season?
If the Athletics can average 2000 and the Roughnecks 5000 then the city will have all the more reason to build a soccer specific stadium.
Watch out for that guy #19 wearing yellow... last name rhymes with.... Dallas-Sambo Don't know if new GK Hunter Harrison is a starter, but he had three saves in a little over a minute in the Green v Yellow game. http://www.topdrawersoccer.com/club-player-profile/hunter-harrison/pid-40973 Can't wait for tomorrow afternoon... wish I could road trip down there. Told the game will be streamed... last year's game was pretty crazy.
That game from last year was one of the most entertaining games ever! The highlights speak for themselves. The Akeil Barrett ball handling sequence .......crazy. Seems like the games against Liverpool have always been a real battle. That will be great if the game tomorrow is streamed. It would be nice to see a lot more NPSL games streamed actually. Having the streaming video of the national playoffs last year in Chattanooga was awesome. Any talk of the Athletics streaming all the home games?
Yesterday's game in Ft Worth postponed due to weather... too bad, because it would have been a great tune-up for Wednesday night's US Open Cup game against Midland/Odessa.
No worries. You guys have games Friday night and Sunday. Joplin was a pretty solid club last year, Liverpool had a mediocre season last year, but has some talented players. In a bit of irony, the US Open Cup game at Midland/Odessa will be streamed over at Arnie's bar in downtown Tulsa at 7:30pm tonight. The Tulsa Roughnecks FC game at Los Dos will be streamed over at Joe Mamma's Pizza. I gotta work tonight, but the Tulsa Athletics Supporters watch party starts at 5:30pm for the 7:30pm match, at Arnie's Bar, which happens to be approximately 341 feet away from Joe Mammas. $3 Killians Red Ale to all who wear Tulsa Athletics or Armory attire. Hopefully, Arnie's will have their signature "Soup of the Day" available for this evening's match... According to google maps, Arnie's is exactly 341 feet from Joe Mamma's... lol.
For those that can't make it to the watch party - game to be streamed live on Athletics Youtube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsvKRbzFJvcJTiKO1UDr3ZQ
Weekend match against Dallas City: A loss for the Athletics on the field. A win for Athletics commentator Ernie Cunningham in the booth.
I think that Ernie Cunningham dude has the potential to become the Harry Caray of the A's and the NPSL... or not. https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=57&v=iPaACIEnQMg
Couldn't make it, had to work... was told by one fan loyal to the Roughnecks that he thought it was "around 800"... was told by another fan loyal to the Athletics that it was "a small crowd of only about 2,000." I'll assume the truth is somewhere in the middle. I'll be twittering from Tulsa Athletics Stadium this evening... Tonight is one of only two home dates for the Athletics that directly conflict with the Roughnecks. I think most of us expect the first year USL Roughnecks to average around 5k per game. For us, I think it'll be hard to average more than 2k this season. I'm just glad that we (unlike OKC FC) are still around this year and hope we continue to get some good word of mouth to build the supporters groups and fanbase from the bottom up after the new Roughnecks sucked all the media oxygen out of the room...
Yea, I would have guessed around 1,000 or so. One thing that may have contributed to a lighter crowd that night were the severe thunderstorms that were suppose to roll in at around 8 and 9 that night. Kept my wife at home anyway. Ended up being a nice night and the rain held off until right after the game ended.
Wow. The last 15 minutes plus 5 min injury time was pretty intense. The game was about as crazy as last year's Liverpool match.
See, that's what I get for cheating on the Athletics and missing it. A co-worker said the same thing. He said it really was an intense game.
